Blood in spit-up???
James has been super-spitty this morning and about a half hour ago, he spit up a lot of mucousy stuff with some blood mixed in. He does have reflux, but for the past day, the spitting has been out of control. I went from an empty hamper yesterday afternoon to having to do a full load of laundry just now.
He has had a little cough and congestion for about a week or so - maybe his throat was irritated? Maybe he has an ulcer?
We are going to the ped at 10:45 - just wanted to see if any of you had any experience with this?
Like always, he's smiling and giggling through it all!

Re: Blood in spit-up???
Sounds to me like it's just a broken vessel from the coughing and activity....sort of like when you have a bad cold and you blow your nose so much...sometimes there is a string of blood.
By no means an expert but I think he should be fine...see what the ped has to say.

Re: Blood in spit-up???
Sasha had a little blood in her spit up once at about 9 weeks or so... I was so scared of what it was, but she literally was smiling right after she spit up. It was a little speck in with her regular spit up.
I took her to the doc and they checked her out-- only to have them say it was a fluke, it could have been from me (I was and still am EBF)-- and it never happened again.

Re: Blood in spit-up???
Thanks girls!
The doc thinks it was just an irritation from using the nasal aspirator - the inside of his nose is pretty irritated and he thinks that he might have just swallowed some bloody snot and then spit it back up
Jeez - these babies like to keep us on our toes, huh? Especially when you have a house full of people coming tomorrow and still have yet to clean and cook!
