Spit up? Reflux early onset? choking? help please

Okay so my son is 9 days old. He's on similac alimentum. He seems to spit up quite a bit. He was spitting up more when he was on enfamil, but now it's not so bad with the alimentum.

However he still spits up. Last night my husband heard a noise and dylan looked fine. He heard a noise again and looked over and dylan was choking. Formula coming out the nose as well.

Tonight i was having dinner with a friend and i had him in the bouncy seat on the table. I happened to look over and his face was bright red and he wasn't making any noises (he was sleeping prior to this). I grabbed him and pounded on his back.

Ds#1 had reflux and was on medication for it, but he had silent reflux. Although it didn't really hit until he was 6 weeks old.

Could this be reflux early?

i know kids spit up, but to the point where he's choking??? Keep in mind we never lay him flat. He sleeps in the RNP or is in the bouncy seat during the day as well.

Thoughts? Now i'm afraid to even go to sleep.

I don't have advice but I am in the same boat. My LO is 2 weeks today, spits up (not a lot) but chokes when we lay him flat. Our pediatrician said we need him in the crib and no rock and play. The R&P is the only thing he will sleep in. I am at a total loss and I am afraid to go to sleep now. I am ready to have my Mom here during the day so I can sleep and I will stay up overnight watching him :(

DD is 4.5 months old and she did the same thing. She has acid reflux. Just saw GI specialist this week because it is just getting worse and worse. Turns out that 75% of all babies have reflux to some extent (as per the specialist).
I would def call the Ped and keep his head elevated as frequently as possible.
Our new plan for DD is, Zantac 3x day (1.0ml), 1/2 tsp Mylanta as needed and an elevated crib mattress. She still sleeps in the fisher price RNP sleeper (otherwise we are up every 20-30 minutes).

I thought DS had it and brought it up at his 2 week well visit with the ped we were seeing. He spit up so hard that it came out his nose and he was chocking on it at times. I was told all babies spit up, its hard to tell how much is coming up, it looks like a lot but really isn't blah blah blah... The next day DS was up on my shoulder being burped and he stopped breathing, turned blue, and was flaccid. He came to within 20 seconds like nothing ever happened. And it happened again 4 days later while he was in his swing. Later that night there we were in Stony Brook staying over night. turns out he had such severe reflux that it cased a reflexive apneic episode. He went home on Axid and an apnea monitor as needed (while sleeping, in car rides, any time I couldn't see him). He slept in his bouncy seat in the bassinet and had his monitor until he was 3 months old. Now at 5 mos he is still on Axid and spits up like a champ, but no worries about breathing anymore, thank Gd!

So yes, reflux can be from day 1. See your ped! And keep him inclined, although it really did nothing for my DS... For us only time will tell.
