spinoff: travel pack n' play
is it wrong of me to have not registered for one?
I registered for a pack n' play, but it will stay at mom's house. I have no 'travel' pack n' play.
for travel, I only have a bouncer seat, a car seat, and an exercise gym/mat. For later on, I'll have a travel booster seat.
Do I really need a travel pack n' play We have a small place and don't want to pack a truck's worth of stuff when we visit relatives... is this unrealistic?
Please BTDT moms give your input!

I didn't know there was a difference. I just got the regular Graco PNP and plan on using it for when she comes home and sleeps in our room and then when we travel in the future (pshhhh like we go anywhere )

Re: spinoff: travel pack n' play
I would get a travel pack n play more than the travel bouncer and travel exercise mat. Where will the baby sleep when you go somewhere? Otherwise you can always borrow your moms if you need to.

Re: spinoff: travel pack n' play
The purpose of a Pack N Play is so you can pack it away and take it with you. Most people nowadays don't do that. It is essentially a portable crib that doubles into an old school playpen. People do not use play pens anymore.
My ILs have one that we used to have at my Mom's house and I am hoping to come across one I can leave at my sister's place. She surely will NOT keep it open all the time - that's not the intended purpose.

Re: spinoff: travel pack n' play
I would not register for TWO pack and plays.
We technically have 2. One stays at my mom's and one is for here. BUT up until he was 14 months old and our childcare situation changed, the one at our house never left here.

Re: spinoff: travel pack n' play
I don't know if you should register for a second one, but I find my pack and play a must-have for travel. Whenever we stay in a hotel, DD sleeps in it. Just yesterday, we went to BIL and SIL's summer house for the day and that's where DD took her nap. I have no clue what we would have done otherwise.
I suppose you could always take your mom's if you need to go away.

Re: spinoff: travel pack n' play
I don't envision any genuine traveling (overnight somewhere other than home) for at least 9 months....
I guess I should find some sort of portable sleeping area but I'm thinking of something much more compact than a whole pack n' play

I wouldn't worry about it until the situation arises

well, I guess my question is:
am I nuts to never intend to bring a pack n' play with us when we go to relatives / travel?
I never brought our pnp to relatives while visiting for the day.... If we were sleeping over night then I would.
For us by the time we went away, DS was 18 months and too big to sleep in the Pnp, I purchased a thing called a PeaPod (much lighter and easier to travel with) I love it and so does DS

funny you mention this... while you were typing this, I was actually adding a peapod plus onto my registry Good reviews and super compact.
When it comes right down to it, DH and I travel light... we would never put up with hauling and putting up a huge pack n play when we go somewhere... peapod is much more our style
I'm glad to hear your DS loves it!

I realized quick that I needed to bring a small one in the car at all times.

Re: spinoff: travel pack n' play
i got a PNP that will only be used at our house, i guess we can take it with us if we need it, but i got it with the intent to use the bassinet portion for the first few weeks, and then as a playpen in the living room as the baby gets older.
my mom has a crib at her house, she doesn't need a PNP. no idea what MIL is doing but the baby will not be there much if i can help it, they have an insanely crazy dog that is NOT well-behaved.

what you intend and what you do are 2 different things you will need somewhere to put him.
my mom has a pnp at her house but she hasn't used it yet.
we're bringing our regular one with us on vacation next month for DS to sleep in. i don't know why you'd need 2 though.

Re: spinoff: travel pack n' play
our condo is relatively small so we will use our pack n'play for travel. My MIL is getting a crib for her place and my mom may pick up something for herself.

Re: spinoff: travel pack n' play
I'm planning on keeping the pack 'n play at our home. The only place I see us traveling to overnight is my parents' house. My mom intends to buy a crib or a pack 'n play for her house so we don't have to take a ton of stuff back and forth when we visit.

Re: spinoff: travel pack n' play
You only need one. When you need to go somewhere, take it from your mom! I keep mine at my babysitter's house and when I need it I take it back.
You will need it from time to time, but you don't need it so much that you would require 2.
