Spinoff to waking baby -STTN and BF vs. formula

Just curious, but those who's DC STTN fairly early - let's say by 8-10 weeks - did you formula feed or BF?

DS #1 STTN by around 8 weeks and I was BF and supplementing (or maybe it turns out he was more formula and supplemented with BM?

DS #2 is EBF so just wondering if I have a chance that he'll STTN a little early too. The lactation consultant made it sound like he wouldn't be doing it anytime soon. But he slept 5 hours last night so I'm going hope.

My ds is exclusively bf. He does not sttn. At night the longest he can go without eating is 7 hours, although usually it is 5 or 6 hours. FF babies can go longer, not sure if that makes them sttn.

My DD was mostly formula fed supplemented with some BM.

My DS is on just formula.

DS #1 - exclusively pumped and he was bottle fed BM - starting STTN - 8 hours at about 10 weeks

DD - EBF - didn't STTN until after 1 year

DS #2 - EBF - STTN 12 hours at 8 weeks

I'm convinced it is completely different for each baby.

My DD is almost 9 months old, EBF and has STTN once. I have a low supply so I'm not surprised she's still waking. If I'm lucky, she only wakes once, but most nights, she's up twice to nurse.

My DD is almost 13 months. I ebf her while on maternity leave. When I went back to work I still bf her and sent bm to her dc. She started a combo of solids and bm at 6 months. At 10months I had to stop nursing for meals (still did it for comfort) because I became pregnant and wasn't producing enough milk to fill her up. She has been STTN since she was 5 months.

Both my boys were EBF. My first STTN at 3 weeks and my second at 5 weeks. For both, as soon as they did it the first time, they were consistent every night thereafter (aside from, if course, the occasional bout of teething/illness/growth spurt here and there). I honestly think what you feed them has little to nothing to do with it. JMO.

Thanks. Yeah, I know every kid is different, just wanted to see if there is any kind of general census with it.

Oh, and I'm considering about 7 hours to be STTN. My 5 hours (only broken by the damn cat last nigh ) was nice but I'm thinking it was a fluke.

My older DS was breast fed and started sleeping through the night around 10-12 weeks, though it did take a little longer for it to be consistent. My younger DS was breast fed and got formula and he didn't sleep through the night until he was 9 months.

DD is EBF and started sleeping 6-7 hour stretches at 5 weeks. She was however fussy and very alert for several hours and then would pass out. I think she was just dead tired.

Then by 3 months she slept 8-9 hours and by 6 months she slept 11-12 hours.

I'm not sure how it's supposed to work- or if one is supposed to fill them up more than the other but I can tell you that I exclusively FF my DD and she didn't sleep through the night until after 6 months old.
Even when she started on solids she was still waking up.
It was maddening.

DD was formula fed and started giving us pretty long stretches at around 6-8 weeks. I don't consider her STTN until 10-12 weeks though when she was waking for a feeding regularly.

I EBF my DD and she slept through the night (5+ hours) from 3 weeks on. It got consistently longer as the weeks went on too.

I really think it has to do with the baby and not what you're feeding the baby. I know EBF babies who sttn early and I know know FF babies who didn't sleep until they were over a year.

It really has to do with how the baby's brain develops. When the brain has matured enough to consolidate sleep at night, the baby will sttn (or at least for longer stretches). That being said, a baby who sttn still has to get all their calories in during the day.

All three of my kids were formula fed:

DD sttn by 9 weeks
DS # 1 by 9 weeks
DS #2 by 7 weeks

all were for 12 hours

DS #1 was FF and STTN at 8 weeks, 12hrs.

DS #2 is FF... He's only 3 weeks old... TBD

My DS is 8 months and not STTN yet. I EBF and he gets bottles while at daycare. He's been on solids since 6 months and has only really slept through the night a handful of times. On a good night he only get up 1x; on a bad night it can be 3-4x!

my son was FF and didn't sleep through the night until, I don't know, 15m and even now at almost 2 he doesnt always sleep through without asking for a baba lol

Both of my boys were EBF. DS1 first STTN at 7 months old. DS2 started STTN consistently around 10 weeks. I really think it just depends on the child.

DD1 didn't STTN until she turned 1. DD2 is almost 4 months and wakes up 3-4 times a night still. I am a FTWM so she nurses a lot at night and doesn't take too much BM while I am gone. DD1 was the same way.

DD STTN at 5 weeks. She is FF. I think she just has DH's sleeping gene!

DD started STTN at 5.5 weeks.

She was BF during the day, but her last feed before bed was formula. Our baby nurse said it'd make her "fuller" and able to STTN. Whether or not that's really the reason, who knows, but it worked!

I'm BF and at almost 4 weeks, definitely not STTN. Last night, DD did wake on her own for feedings instead of my having to wake her, which I hate to do.
