Spinoff to spinoff of BODIES Exhibition...

When you die, cremated or buried? And why?

I'm going with cremated because I always get soooo scared that there is some level of consciousness -- even if all your organs are removed, your blood is drained, whatever. What if there is some level of consciousness that our technology and science can't detect? It freaks me out.

Re: Spinoff to spinoff of BODIES Exhibition...

I want to be cremated as well, I don't want people to visit me at a cemetary.

lI die, life goes on.

I want my ashes scarce in the sea.

I don't really care. I chose "haven't thought about it" but I think I'd prefer stuffed and mounted! Chat Icon

I don't believe that there is some level of consciousness after the fact - but if there is, wouldn't you think being cremated is worse? because I assumed you'd have that level of consciousness during the cremation procedure.. Chat Icon Not to freak you out more but it was the first thought that popped into my head.

I have the exact same thought process and I too chose cremated. I believe I'm actually being irrational, but I can't get over that little fear in the back of my head. I thought I was the only one that was afraid of this!!

Re: Spinoff to spinoff of BODIES Exhibition...

As a funeral director.....I am seeing exactly what statistics say is happening...cremation is on the rise....sorta interesting!!

As a regular person.....cremation for me....not to say just cremate me....the family can oogle me for a day or two at the funeral home & sing my praises....but cremation so I do not take up space in the ground.

A friend of mine was sadly killed in the 7/7 bombing in London last year and her remains were buried in a garden of rememberance, which is like just a field where people are buried, no markers, no tombstones, just a beautiful meadow

It sounds like a really lovely idea!

I want to be cremated and mixed with DH. I'm sure we'll pick a special place to be dumped.
