i get paid well, but considering the cost of living and my mortgage, 10% to 401k and helath isurance and taxes, i dont consider it that much...which is sad, but true..

Honestly-- whatever you get paid-- it's NEVER enough. I make a decent living-- but after all the expenses that come into play with being more grown up-- I never feel like I have enough.

I teach in the second lowest paying school district on LI so given my years of experience if I was anywhere else I'd be making a lot more now.
Starting salary in NYC is now higher than starting salary in my district.

I agree with the above posters. For those that votes over 100K...that's not all that much on LI (or the metro area, like NJ) with how expensive everything is

Hey, I wouldn't mind making over 100K 
I think you adjust your lifestyle according to your salary - It wasn't that long ago that I was living on 25K in Manhattan - it can be done.

Hey, I wouldn't mind making over 100K

I agree that it is never enough---and that you can very easily have a hard time affording things even if you make 100K ... because you get involved in bigger mortgages, more expenses, etc. However right now 100K would be WONDERFUL for me!

I am definitely underpaid. However the job that I currently work at starts their licensed social workers at $12k more than my last job.

last night on one of the news channels they had an analyst on who said that many companies are not paying their employees enough considering the rising inflation of the last few years. he said that unless you get at least a 5% increase every year, you're actually losing money 
and if you get 5%, you're basically breaking even.
