Spinoff to Kerry's 1st Christmas post...(vent)

I know that being jewish I'm in the "minority" group, but seriously.... BRU has an entire section of baby's 1st Christmas stuff (onsies, pj's, bibs, etc...) and like ONE lousy onsie for Baby's 1st Hanukkah...Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Rant over...

I could imagine that would get frustrating. There is a market out there. Maybe online

Are you surprised? There is never anything for Hanukkah.
I have always complained how pretty much entire stores will be about Christmas and then there is one little rinky-dink table for Hannukah. Its disgusting.

No, I'm not really surprised, but was rather aggrivated by the lack of selection. It's something I've always noticed, but never really paid attention to until now.

Ok, I live in a predominantly jewish neighborhood here in Philly and last year I went into the Hallmark during Hanukah and asked if they had Hanukah candles.

The woman looked at me like I had six heads Chat Icon She didn't even know what Hanukah candles were!

I've come to terms with the fact that it's just part of jewish life - we are a minority so naturally there won't be as much out there to purchase for a minority holiday Chat Icon

I'm not jewish but I'm kind of surprised b/c it isn't like LI doesn't have a larger jewish population. I know I have seen several Hanukah items at bbb - what about looking online?

I live in NJ and in a VERY jewish area. Yeah, I can look online, but that's not really the point of my vent. There are many Judaica online stores. It just sucks that I can't just go to a store and buy something as readily as a non-jewish person, and have to end up paying twice as much because it's online.

I was in Buy Buy Baby on Saturday and they have Hanukkah stuff - not apparel though from what I saw, actually only 1 bib. The rest were things like toy menorah's.

It is totally annoying....I agree with you. I am jewish, went to yeshiva and so did DH...the thing is, not to play devils advocate but I am..Chat Icon is that Hannukah while it is a big holiday for us, it's not as "big" of a holiday as Christmas is for Catholics, at least in my eyes it isn't...I've always thought that Passover, Rosh Hashannah, Yom Kippur are a bit "more" holy holidays...Don't get me wrong, I do NOT think it's right that they don't have a good selection for us, bc I do think it's ridiculous..but just wanted to put a different perspective on it....

Well I have to say I totally understand why you would be annoyed you have a very valid point! That is ridiculous! Yes I agree that there should be several choices in NJ! I'm sorry you can't find anything else. I hope you find what you want.
