Spinoff to Holiday Gift Idea Thread (totally selfish here)
I have an 11 year old SIL and a 7 year old BIL (children from a second marriage of a parent-in-law). They always want top of the line electronic gifts (Gameboys, Nintendo DLS, etc.). We've never cared about money spent in the past, but money is tight this year. Any ideas for kids this age, but not 100s of $s? I'd LOVE to get them something NON-electronic, but that may not be an option. THANK YOU for any and all input!

Might be good, but I'm afraid they're too young to receive a gift they can't "open." But it's a thought! Thanks!

I like that idea! And maybe we'd give each a check, too. You have to understand...as much as I hate it, they're like "the chosen ones" (through no fault of their own - they're great kids) and their big brother (DH) would hate for it to look as if he's short-changing them.

What are they into?
When I was a kid I loved getting books. I don't know if that's lame to kids these days, but it was FUNdamental for me!
