Spinoff to bragging post...
Yes, I am so excited that everyone's kids are doing so great but Andrew is not doing anything
He sits up on his own forever but he is not crawling and is not standing on his own. Not even taking steps when I hold his hand.
He says ma ma and will mimic you when you pretend you have the hicupps. He also holds his own bottle.
But I am so worried now that something is wrong.
Finally his hair is coming in but still no teeth.
Sorry I just had to get this out because that thread made me feel even worse.

Re: Spinoff to bragging post...
Every baby develops at their own pace. Don't say he's not doing anything, that's not fair. He's a baby! He's doing tons of things every, single day! So what he has no teeth or hair? Many babies don't get either for a LONG time! And most babies aren't crawling or standing at his age. Trust me, I am envious of mommies who have babies not crawling or standing because I can never, ever sit down anymore! He's perfectly fine. And not for nothing, but crawling or standing at an early age isn't really something that can get you into Harvard, ya know?

Re: Spinoff to bragging post...
Every baby reaches milestones differently. DS is the same age as Andrew. And although DS sits up and pulls up on his own now, he doesn't hold his own bottle and he doesn't say mama. I think you'll make yourself crazy if you start trying to compare against everyone else. As long as your ped says he's doing ok, believe it. He'll get there
Now, if my DS could hold his own bottle, what a relief that would be

Re: Spinoff to bragging post...
dont ever ever compare your baby to others. it wont do any good but get you paranoid that something is wrong. i did the same thing with my first. she didnt get teeth till one years old. i kept bothering my pediatrican about it and he used to tell me "have you ever seen a kid with no teeth", and he was right. all in due time. my ds didnt walk to almost 18 months!!! my dd didnt say any words at 12 months, not even mama or dada. my dd was potty trained to almost 4 years old. who cares. all our kids are the precious babies in the world. and it would be a pretty boring world if all babies did the same thing at the same time. Andrew is perfect and doing exactly what a lil one his age should be doing. i had a feeling that other post was going to cause some concern to some moms. but it really shouldnt.

Oh, don't worry! Every kid is different.
I called my SIL (a speech pathologist) in a panic 2 weeks ago when Andy turned 7 months and hasn't said a word yet - not even dada. He squeals and makes noise, but not distinct yet. Sarah spoke very early, but my SIL said that he could take up to a year to talk and still be normal.
Andy still won't sit up on his own for long, and just started doing the Army man crawl last weekend.
Sarah didn't walk on her own until she was 15 months. She was really cautious and waited until she felt comfortable.

DD is 11 months and hasn't said mama or dada yet but I still know she is a genius anyway...she also didn't start crawling until she was 9 months and pulling herself up a little before 10 months, don't be so hard on your little guy, he is doing just fine

Re: Spinoff to bragging post...
Hayley didn't crawl until she was 10 months, she only started rolling around at 8 months. She cut her first tooth at 9 months. She started walking at 14 months. She didn't talk much either but it was only now, at 17 months, she just started to say so many words, not clearly, but we know what she is saying. I used to compare Hayley to my friend's baby who is only 3 weeks older than her...she is so advanced compared to Hayley. I had to stop because it would drive me crazy. Now at 17 months they are all caught up. He will do it in his own time.

Re: Spinoff to bragging post...
Ellie doesn't have any teeth yet and she's the same age and she definitely doesn't say mama yet. That's huge. So he's developing intellectually and speaking wise quicker than physically- how's that a bad thing? That's terrific. Let me tell you it's not going to make your life any easier when he starts crawling walking or standing. I can't even look away for a second now. So i know it's not an easy thing, but try to enjoy it while it lasts b/c it won't be long before he'll be doing it all.
