spinoff to 6 mo old schedule -- NAPS
My DS napped pretty well until I moved him into crib and took away his paci last month. He sleeps perfectly at night. He puts himself to sleep, and stays asleep 12 hours.
But now his naps are horrible (he is 6 months). He just wont go down. And when he does he sleeps 30 mins and then wakes up.
Any tips for getting him to sleep longer periods? I know he needs this sleep desperately... and he gets so cranky when he doesnt nap. He fights it!!!

give him back the paci for naps and see if that helps.

Is teething possible? Also DD would have bad sleep patterns if she was sick.

I feel like every kid goes through phases with naps. Hopefully it is a short phase.

I'm in the same boat. I've asked the ped and she keeps telling me she will adjust when needed. She took a 1.5 hr nap today at 8 am and then one 30 min nap later in the day. If I put her in the car and drive around she will sleep for over an hour. I'm too waiting for her to start sleeping at least an hour for her 2 naps. They are suppose to be getting about 3 hours of naps each day and 45 min is the least amount of time to be considered a nap. I go back to the ped tomorrow and will address again. I've heard that sometimes they need to be "coached" for naps which it don't know if I'm ready to do. Ugh

We still frequently put DS in the swing to nap. I'd like for him to do all his naps in the crib, but with an insane toddler around too I just don't have time to figure it out. He sleeps fine in the crib at night and goes down without an issue.

I just did sleep training with my DS at 7 months, 1 week and it went REALLY well. I followed Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child Extinction CIO (I did the same for my DD when she was 7 1/2 months). He went from 3, 30 minute naps to two 1 1/2 hour naps and began sleeping through the night. It was really amazing.
