spinoff : how much candy do you give each trick or treater??
we have
fun size" skittles, m&Ms, snickers, three musketeers... just curious how many we shoudl give each kid...

I bought those little bags, and put 3 pieces in each. We have peanut butter cups, Kit Kats, Butterfingers & Nestle Crunches. I mixed & matched.

ok.. cool thanks! i grew up in an area where the houses are so spread out that we never got any trick or treaters.. so i have no idea! LOL but, thats what we've been doing... we've been giving 3 peices per kid.

I start out with 2 each for the kids, Than if we have a 'Lot' left over 4 each till it's all gone!

I seriously get only 1-2 kids per year, sometimes none. I live in an apt. If they come, I give tons! Huge handfuls.

I stick the bowl out and let them take as much as they want. When we run out we turn out the lights.

This is why I bought those little treat bags this year. I put 3-4 pieces in each. I always feel like they give you a look that says "that's all?" if you don't give them a huge handful.

I let each kid take a handful. If they look like they didn't get much I tell them dip again. I haven't had many so I told the last kids to take too handfuls.

yeah... thats a good idea.. i might do that for next year.. that way it makes it seem like you're giving them more than you are

I let them grap a bunch. We have plenty of candy & if we run out, I'm taking from my kids' stash they collected.
Better them than me.

I fill up the baggies with about 5 pieces in each bag. I was at my cousins tonight handing out her candy -- and I hate when they are not in baggies...I feel stupid only giving one or two pieces - esp. when the kids stand there expecting more.

I usually put 2 things in each. We have peanut butter cups, hershey bars (the ones that are about 2 inches long), milk duds and junior mints.

This is what I did. It usually works out, they usually take 2 or 3 pieces, although a bunch of kids took only one and I had to tell them to take more.
BUT..... there was this one kid (maybe 8-10 years old, dressed as a mummy) that reached in, took a fistful, then took another fistful, then reached in for a third. I had to gently tell him to please save some for the other kids. Later on I was talking to my neighbor across the street and apparently he did the same to her!

I only gave out 1 per kid - that's what I remembered getting when I was younger - but, I talked to DH and my mom afterwards and I feel bad because they said I should've given out two.
