Spinoff-Getting Older

What was "the" number that made you realize you are definitely getting older? Was there a specific age?

This year kind of bothers me, I am 24. Quarter-life crisis, anyone? Chat Icon I'm ok, I just thought i'd be a home/coop/condo owner by now.

You know what makes me realize how fast time goes? My friends children. Every time I see them, they have grown. I Chat Icon my head and think to myself, "Weren't you born yesterday?" and then, "Weren't you just a year old? and then, "I can't believe you're going to junior high school already". Chat Icon

Re: Spinoff-Getting Older

This year when I turned 27 really freaked me out because I realized how fast my 20s are going. But then I think about my parents, who are 53, and they seem so young to me, and that makes me think that getting "old" really is just a state of mind.

I agree, kids are a great example of how fast time passes.

Me too, I tend to have a breakdown every year. When I turned 20 it was horrible. I cried all day long. It was the breakingaway from my teens and getting into my 20's. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

But so far my 20's have been very good to me. Chat Icon

Re: Spinoff-Getting Older

When I turned 25 it was really hard for me. I had a lot of expectations for myself that were not met at that point (married, graduate school degree) and I FELT AWFUL. I am now 28 and married with a JD. I am actually happy to be turning 29 and in a great place in my life. Knock on wood.

DH & I were dating a few months & talking about goals, life, etc. I said when I decide to get married, I'd want to be engaged a year, get married, be married for a year & have kids before I was 30. He looked at me & said "So we'd need to get engaged next month?"

I was 27 & it never occurred to me that time had run out & I was going to have to scrap my plans. Strangely enough, I was really annoyed with him for pointing that out even though I was no where ready to get married(yup, I'm a firm believer in killing messengers too).

Nah...it is fine. If you are satisfied with your life then that is excellent.

Re: Spinoff-Getting Older

I guess this year, when we went to contract on our house...so, 33...but it wasn't getting older, it was the idea of "being a grown-up" that instilled that "this is it", no going back. Chat Icon

Age doesn't bother me - I *love* my birthday and have never really been depressed about getting older. Why fight it?, it's better than the alternative Chat Icon Chat Icon
