Spin off (well sort of) - Mom's clubs

on Goobster's thread there was a few mentions of some mom's clubs....

I've looked up a few in my area...and I just can't get around to meeting up with everyone.

What do you like about these groups? Was it hard to 'break in' when so many relationships are already established? What do you get out of it? How often do you go?

Trying to get the motivation to go. Thanks!

I have been in a lot of them. Left some, kicked out of others...I finally found one that I clicked with.

If they did not want to meet new moms, they would not be part of a group or accepting new members. Just keep showing up to playdates and it will click.

I belong to a couple of groups and am an assistant organizer of one of them. You can't be shy and you have to jump right in. I have made some really wonderful friends and Landon and I always have a packed schedule.

I met them through a library program. The library program was only 4 weeks and it was a program for new moms. We all decided on the last session to comtinue to meet weekly at each others homes. It has worked out great and they are all really sweet.

It's great because all of the kids are within a few months of one another in age.

Re: Spin off (well sort of) - Mom's clubs

I just made a post in the other thread on how I'm not so great at socializing. The funny thing is that when I'm "in"... I'm in, like being a ring leader. But before that, I lay low in the outskirts waiting for an opportunity but I'm going to try to be more assertive in our next class! My goal is to get there early for the pre class chatting. I feel like I miss out by not getting there early. So that's a good tip when you do find a group.

And I cannot wait for the Spring because I'd really love to start a stroller walking group in the Bayard Cutting Arboretum!Chat Icon
