Spin-off to Day Care post..

Do day care centers allow you to alternate days?

Here is the situation: DH's schedule changes every other week... there are only 2 days during the week where his schedule remains the same and the other days he is either opening or closing. So, for 1 week we would need day care for 2 days of the week and for the next week it would be for 3 days.

Is that even possible?

Some might but I am in the process of findign a center now and they all so far have had minimums and need a set schedule.....its because they can only have a certain number of kids in a room at a time so if you are alternating then they may not be able to keep it at a constant number.

It may be possible but, it might end up being the same price.

We have a flexible schedule at our daycare and we pay based on the number of days DS goes a month (we're in the northern suburbs though):

0-8 days - 2x a week price
9-12 days - 3x a week price
13-16 days - 4x a week price
17+ days - full time price

Based on what you need - you'd be paying the 3x a week price most likely based on the fact that you'd need around 10 days each month...

Mine does. DS goes 2 days a week. MIL works 3 12 hour shifts a week and watches DS 3 days a week and her schedule changes. I give them a month's notice.

mine does not for infant care. You have to sign up for full time there is no part time because each baby has their own crib.
