(sorta TMI)... How can we still have fun with BDing when we're TTC?!
How can we still make BDing fun and include foreplay and other stuff like that when (here comes the general TMI) saliva is a big no no???
DH can't seem to grasp this concept and I'm sort of missing all of the fun that goes into having sex without actually having sex (does that make sense????????).

I don't know how long you've been trying, but if I were you I wouldn't change a thing. Do what you do. I don't see ANY reason barring a doctor's advice or conception issues for you to ruin a good thing...

here is the thing - like everyone i know had no idea about the saliva thing. . . so unless we have a problem - like this takes over a year. . . i am just acting normal. I mean I told DH about it, so maybe we are cutting back a little bit but not totally.

The way i look at it is similar to what has been posted already.
People have been getting pregnant for years, having regular old sex. Not temping, no opk's, no preseed, no barilla, no putting legs up etc..
If you're really concerned about the saliva, then just don't do anything that involves saliva on the day(s) you know you're ovulating. The rest of the days, have fun!
and for another poster.. i believe saliva is supposed to not be good for sperm, meaning it is supposed to kill it. (i'd look into that more also if you're concerned)
ask your doctor about it too and see what they say.

thank you so much for posting this!!! I was wondering about the whole saliva issue as well! but i guess as the other posters have said keep doing what you've been doing and if we're still not preggers after a few months then we'll just cut the saliva on the days i'm o-ing.

Speaking as a "professional" (I sell sex toys as a side job for fun )
We encourage foreplay by using things like sensual massage, setting the mood as well as "saliva" enduced activities...We also have sexy games, which sound corny, but have you ever tried a game of strip poker with just the 2 of you haha
I would say keep it simple (if I could only follow my own advice!) and i agree with the previous poster that said women have been doing this for years, just keep away from the saliva activities on your odays

You can't! No.....I'm just kidding!!  Although, if anyone figures out a way to not be completely sick of BD'ing after days and days of it I'd love to know!!  Baby making sex is by far VERY different from plain old "for fun" sex. Baby making sex is a job!

Ok maybe TMI, but when I was ttc #2 I told my hubby no activities that include saliva, after 17 months of TTC and m/c, we did everything we would normally do during non-baby dancing baby dancing. The product of that is now a year old. Fast forward to July 09, we werent TTC officially and we BD'ing like bunnies just having a good time and that little surprise is almost 15 weeks in my belly.
Not for anything, but I would take a lot of these ttc rules with a grain of salt.

Sort of in line with what others are posting, here's how I see it:
I think that all of the TTC "rules" are more or less there for people who have been trying unsuccessfully for an extended period of time.
Like, many of you said - people get PG all the time without even trying or using any sort of TTC "tools". DH is very much against the whole "trying" part of conceiving. He would prefer it to just happen "naturally" (so naïve). I however am a lot more aware of the difficulties and struggles that can be involved so I have become a little more in tune with my body to help this "natural" procedure along
So far the only thing I've done (past 3 months) is to start taking a womans multi vitamin with folic acid, I quit smoking (dh too) and I'm using an OPK just to know when I'm Oing. I don't bother DH with all of this bc I'm trying to respect his feelings. I just turn on the romance a little more when the time is right.
At this point if I were to tell DH that we can't do "this" or "no, not like that" while we were BDing, he would prob freak out.
If it gets to the point that we are having no luck for a few months, I will most likely then sit down with DH and discuss some of the issues we MAY be having.

Honestly I don't believe half of these "can't" rules. Never have we changed our style of BDing, and I have been pregnant 3 times. Just have fun!!!

I have to remember that people get pregnant every single day and about half of them aren't even trying.
I get so wraped up in all of the "what works best" "this doesn't work" "this will definitely not get your pregnant" mumbo jumbo. I MUST STOP!
I'm having good old fashion fun this weekend!

I just got a BFP....in hiding.
We did everything the way we normally would this time around. DH was sick of the "no spit" rule!
I gave in, begrudgingly.
BFP....so it does happen.

Seriously..........after the marathon of BD this week we both agree we're good for at least another month!! I even broke out the nightie and hooker heels last night and all we did was crack up because we were both so exhausted from BD all week long. We put the work in.........now we wait!
