sorry to crash but have a question
My bff and boys godmother is preg.
i believe shes 21 or so weeks. she had an appt yesterday they told her 3 weeks ago when she made the apt this would be the one she found out the sex. well she gets there and they tell her its to early. she has to wait another 3 weeks. I dont know all the details because she was sooo upset to talk to anyone yesterday. She was extremely disappointed. can anyone tell me why that would be? i know i found out early i was 16 weeks. but my bioys sat spread eagle every sono. but i though by 20 weeks you can tell.
please help me understand so that i can be of help to her!!

By 20 weeks you should definately be able to tell. Maybe the baby didn't cooperate

Hi Aeriell! I found out at 18 weeks - by 20 they should def be able to tell, unless baby wasn't cooperating during the sono. When is she due?

shes due december 27. the only answer i got was they told her it was too early. i tried to see if it was becasue the baby would cooperate. she had a 3pm apt and i got this answer by 330. i would think that if the baby wasnt cooperatring they would have spent just a lil more time with her.

I was told that they can tell by 18 weeks. I found out at 20 weeks because that was when my next appt was. I think they were just making up an excuse not to do it. That's not right.

If she is due Dec 27, she's a few weeks short of 21 weeks. I'm due Dec 2 and am 21 weeks. I was told at 16 weeks, but a lot of places won't take a guess before 20 weeks. Plus, as others have said, the baby might not have been cooperating. My friend went at 17 weeks, and they tried for about 5 minutes but couldn't see. She was told she would find out at her 20 week appmt.

If she is due Dec. 27th, she isn't 20 weeks, she's about 17 and a half - so that could be too early.
Also, I had a friend who went for her 20 week sono and the baby wouldn't cooperate, she kept holding the cord between her legs. She had to go back a few weeks later to find out.

yeah, it's probably too early - she's about 17.5 weeks. Some techs would probably take a guess at this point but many won't until a little later.

Some doctors prefer to do the Level II at 20+ weeks. She's just shy of 18 weeks if she's due on December 27th.

I found out at 18 weeks and then again at 20 weeks at my level 2 appt, I'm surprised they couldn't tell her, unless the baby was not cooperating

Hey chicky...
I found out at my Ultrascreen that Caden was a boy..which was confirmed at 15 weeks, 16 weeks, and then at my Level II...
Although some doctors just wont tell you the sex until 20 weeks or so. Now why, if they are doing a sonogram anyway, they cant just take a peak, is beyond me. But I know some doctors just wont/dont...
It's kind of like how some ladies have had their Level IIs before 20 weeks and some places wont do them until after...even by 1 day...
I guess we need to know if it's a boy or not???? Sorry again about the loot but I'll save all the clothes & stuff from now on....

At 20 weeks Lucas' testicles had not fully decended so the doctor's couldn't be certain...no 3 lines for girl but also nothing to clearly indicate boy at that point. It didn't help that his legs were crossed the whole time...made it very hard to see anything at all. A few weeks late still no change when the Impact tech told me girl...that's why he was wrong.
I was able to clearly see it at 30 weeks.
ETA: So in your SIL's case it might just be too early. My case was on the late side since most doctor's can see at 20 weeks.

I am due 12/24 and I am 18 weeks pregnant. I cannot find out until August 6th...
Maybe she went too early for the sono and they didnt want to guess? A lot of places wont guess.
