Sorry for another question... but which mattress did you register for?
I totally forgot to register for a crib mattress!
Any suggestions?
What are the benefits of the organic ones??

I registered for the Serta Perfect Dream Crib and Toddler Bed Mattress
I chose this one b/c I tested them all out and thought this one felt the best (I just used my hands...i didn't sleep on it )
as far as organic, I guess it would help with allergens and would be made with organic cotton. I don't think this mattress is organic, but a lot of the sheets and such I am going to get are.

I was looking into this too. The organic ones can be super expensive. I kinda feel that if you use organic sheets - for allergens and things its an easier way to go. They say to watch for how the cotton is made b/c often they use pesticides or chemicals in the production.

I was looking into this today, the organic mattresses are just made with natural things like coconut fibers, husks and other things, instead of nylons, polyesters and plastics.
I would think the non-organic mattress might be less allergy prone since its probably all synthetic.
I plan on putting a plastic waterproof cover on it anyway.
I totally second the organic sheets though, there are a a lot of chemicals in processing cotton and your baby skin is on that 24/7. I wouldn't want to risk anything there.

Make sure the mattress fits the crib. That's the most important thing. A "standard" crib and a "standard" mattress can have up to a 2" gap between the mattress and the crib sides.
