Soothie Pacifiers - Moving up to 3+ size?

DS is 6 1/2 months. I just moved up to the 3+ size from the 0-3 size after he started folding the base of the pacifier and almost putting the whole thing in his mouth. The 3+ month pacifier has a stiffer, more rigid base and the nipple isn't as soft and flexible. DS doesn't like the new one at all. He sucks a couple of times and spits it out. I don't know if it's that he just doesn't like it and isn's use to it or if he truly has trouble keeping it in his mouth because it isn't as flexible.

When did you switch?

Did your DC protest?

If so, did you stick with the 0-3 size or stick with it? Did your DC adjust?

Thanks!

Both of my kids hated anything but the 0-3+ size. I just let them keep the newborn sizes.

My DS only used the 0-3 months. I tried the next size up (bc I thought it would sooth his gums when teething) but he wasn't a fan. We never had any issues with the paci.

Thanks ladies.

I can see why he doesn't like it... It's a complete different feel... I just don't want him to fold it and get the whole thing stuck in his mouth!

My DS is 17 months and still uses the newborn size.

I tried the bigger ones and like your DC he spit it right out and looked at me like I was nuts for trying to get him to suck on it Chat Icon

I tried switching to the next size up and DD didn't like them. Never had a problem with the 0-3 so just going to stick with them.

Re: Soothie Pacifiers - Moving up to 3+ size?

When DS started putting the whole thing in his mouth (he did this at daycare and his provider flipped - she ended up switching him to a different type) we tried to go with the next stage and he never liked them the way he did the original.

He would sometimes use it a little after a while, but never really took to it. I wish I had just decided then to take the paci away totally but we ended up switching to some Advent ones we had and eventually he took to those and won't give them up.

We moved up to the next size too when DD put the whole thing in her mouth and it freaked me out! She took to the new size without a problem at all.

eventually ds started popping him out of his mouth.

We switched to the MAM pacifier. On those he did allow us to switch sizes up on them. cause I remember being able to buy the 6m+ ones with attitude words.
