sooo annoyed... UPDATE day 2

UPDATE: so guess what?! they didn't freakin show up today either! i called them about 10 times, no one answered, machine is "full". HA! they probably did this to a million other peopele and have a bunch of messages! lucky for me, my hallway was being painted yesterday and today, my painter heard what i was going through and recommended someone to me. he doesn't know them personally but saw the finished product and said it was gorgeous and the family raved about them. i just called and they had a cancellation for today, so they will be here at 2pm! perhaps it was a blessing in disguise. i called consumer affairs and they are sending me a form to file a formal complaint on the company. un-f'ing-real.

maybe this belongs on the home board, but i had an appt for my tub to get stripped and reglazed today and tomorrow. they were supposed to be here at 9am. i called at 9:15 to make sure they knew where they were going etc, got a voicemail. called again at 9:45 and the guy sounded like i had woke him up! i was like "yeah, i had a tub reglazing appt at 9:00am and you're not here!" he said he was sorry and that they would be here tomorrow at 9 and would give me money off. i was like a)darn straight you will and b)are you sure you're going to be here? the guy said he would drive the worker here personally. i told him how i took the day off from work, how annoyed i was etc. i understand the bad weather, but if they had to cancel, then you call. it was pretty obvious they blatently forgot about me! how would you handle it when they show up tomorrow... if they show up at all

I'd be sure they take 50% off at least for messing up your time and being unprofessional.

Also, ask for a manager's/supervisor's phone number to lodge a formal complaint.

That's very unprofessional of them and I would fire them and get someone new. Did you give them a deposit?

Unfortunately, this is how many home contractors are.

My FIL is semi-retired, stopped advertising years ago and his phone rings all of the time. His business is entirely on word of mouth. People love him because he 1. shows up on time, 2. calls, 3. is on the job, 4. everything is complete when he says it will be, 5. the house is left in immaculate shape every day they work in it.

Even with family in the industry we had a similar incident happen to us last week with the shower door guy. He was supposed to come and readjust our glass enclosure.

What he did was pretty idiotic because 1. I will no longer recommend him on the home board and 2. My FIL will no longer use him as a subcontractor for the several bathrooms he is designing this year.

I estimate he lost at least 20K worth of work from my FIL alone this year because of not being professional with us.

heres a good one--we hired a plumber on recommendation.
He showed up late when he showed up, or did not come at all. or did not call.
One of the last f--ked up times he came he took advantage of me being prego and alone and went and got completely wasted at lunch,.,and then some.
He fell into my fireplace, walls and down the stairs...fell asleep on my chair u name it.
Long story short--he was reccommended through someone, they found out and reamed him. --plumbers are highway robbery--by the time I was done with him--he did the whole job for free. We paid for materials and a worker thats its...
forget that...kind of worth it in the end!

I would probably find someone else. Their work may be as unreliable as their ability to show up!
