Sonos twice a week?

I have to have a biophysical sono performed twice a week until the baby is born. I am showing the early signs of preeclampsia so the doc wants to keep an eye on my LO.... I just can't help but wonder if all these sonosa are really safe?

My doc says it's necessary and safe but I just get nervous... it seems rather excessive.

Re: Sonos twice a week?

My doc had said that there is no proof that sonos are bad for baby or mommy (when I had asked him about 3d's). Plus, it really is helping monitor that the pregnancy goes as best as possible in the long run.

The risk of preeclampsia is a LOT worse than the unknown risks of repeated ultrasounds.

Re: Sonos twice a week?

I had to have twice a week sonos toward the end of my pregnancy due to GD. The BPPs are fast and I liked the peace of mind I got from the frequent sonos. From what I've read sonos are safe. Good luck!

Agreed

There are no known risks with ultrasounds... and many many woman have had to get multiple sono's and have given birth to very healthy babies. The Dr. wouldn't do it if it wasn't safe. Chat Icon

Re: Sonos twice a week?

I had 2+ sono's a week for the last 6 weeks of my pregnancy (I had identical twins with some issues going on) and also had a ton of sonograms throughout my pregnancy - close to 15+.

Both my boys are almost 4 now and completely fine. I don't buy that sonogram danger thing and I think songorams can do so much more good then bad.
