Sono at 13weeks... Internal wand or external with gel?
Just curious!!! My 13 week sono is tomorrow, and the last time I had my sono (8 weeks), it hurt a little bit. I think it might have been the new technician doing it, but I'd rather not feel that discomfort again for a while if I don't have to.

they usually do a belly sono after 12 weeks but occasionally they do an internal if there is a need to check the cervix atleast that is what they did for me

Thanks for the replies!
Oh good. I'm so glad it will be external from now on. I guess being pregnant, I'm much more sensitive down there, and the thought of another vibrator-looking wand coming my way is not the visual that I would like.

I had an external after 12 weeks!
My ultrascreen was at 13 weeks and the external was awesome.

I had my nucal this past week and it was just on the belly-- but with those, you need a full bladder.

They tried to do mine externally, but baby was uncooperative. They may try internal if they need to get a better view.
Internals shouldn't hurt, though...  If you need to have one again, ask them if you can do the insert yourself. This is what they did at my RE's office--they just have you reach under the sheet and do it. IMO, I'd much rather do it than have someone else do it!
