Sometimes a dog just knows...

So I was home sick today and reading a book on the couch in our living room, Ali our lab mutt was sleeping on the loveseat also in the living room. Someone died in the book I was reading and I started crying (yes I'm a giant sap...it was sad!), and I was sniffling and stuff, and Ali wakes up, looks at me, gets off the loveseat and walks over, and puts her head right up next to my book and nuzzles...so i pet her and kissed her head, and then she went back and got on her couch.

It was like she was just coming over to make sure I was ok

Love my doggy It means so much when she does stuff like that for me b/c she is DH's dog (he got her when he was 16...she's his first love ) and she used to be so jealous of me, but I think she finally loves me now

dogs seriously can sense when you are sad. If I am ever crying..coco will come up to me and lick me..then usually she will lay in my lap

That's really something, isn't it? That's nice that you two have a bond like that.

I've only cried once in Brinkley's presence and instead of trying to console me, he dropped his Kong on my foot.

Last weekend I fell down - hard - when we were walking Brinkley. DH had him on the leash but when Brinkley saw me on the ground, he went crazy trying to get to me. Once I got up and reached him, he gave me kisses and then continued on his way. To try to lick up the coffee I had spilled on the ice.

I'm not so sure Brinkley is tuned into my emotions just yet.

That's adorable!

My kitty knows when I'm sick too... she will sit right by me and once I ran into the bathroom to puke and when I came out she was sitting right by the door waiting for me- looking all concerned!
