someone stole our CAC cover!
we had our CAC serviced and turned on today and left the cover outside so I could clean it before putting it away and now it's gone!
i left the house at noon to meet a friend for lunch and just got back a few mins ago...
i left it draped over the garbage can and when i got home the can was knocked over and the cover was gone!
honestly! who steals an AC cover! it's not even a year old and has no damage.... oh well....

It was on your garbage can? Is your can in view from the street? Someone may have taken it for scrap if it was metal.. nerve to go on your property if it wasn't out the curb!

it was on the side of the house, draped over the garbage can, no where near the street! you could see it from the street. it was the gray material cover we kept over the unit for the winter.
i would have brought it inside this morning, but it was filthy! and i wanted to clean it 1st...
it's easy to replace, but still....

Everything I've read about covers says not to cover them. They trap moisture and create a little sauna, increasing the chances of rust. I just got CAC last year, so I did a bunch of research on that topic.
It really $ucks that it happened, but I wouldn't bother replacing it.

I agree. Ours came with a lid on top(for debris) that opens and close when it's on but it shouldn't be covered all around.

We just got new CAC unit in the fall. And the installers told us not to cover it on the SIDES. THey said just get one of those disc type kids sleds just to cover the top from debris and animals.
Either way it stinks, people take the oddest things!
