Re: Someone said something upsetting to me about DS going to preschool...
Idiot!
After learning my kids were in daycare, idiot once asked me "How do you feel having strangers raising your children?" I wanted to drop kick him across the cocktail party.
I calmly told him what I thought of his question...later on in the conversation it came out that his kid was homeschooled & has all sorts of social issues. No surprise there considering his father has no social skills either.
It takes only days for a young child to adjust to a new schedule. He is going to succeed in leaps & bounds.

that guy is a major arse. Not every child is the same. Your DS may thrive in daycare just as mine did. He actually loves going and has adapted very well. In the short time he has been there he has learned so much and is very social. I hope the same for your DS

This is one of those times someones elses opinion or judgement can hit home because part of you wants to be home but the other part is trying to do whats best. Don't let him get to you and read this article:
In Praise of Working Mothers
I think all mothers should read this article.

Re: Someone said something upsetting to me about DS going to preschool...
I am walking very close to your shoes....we decided to put Christopher in a program for September, and it is in Commack, and Im in Coram, and the thought of him on the bus for an hour kills me, and the thought that he will be away from Matthew just REALLY kills me.But I know this is the right placement for him, and WE are doing the best thing for our sons. They will get the help that trained professionals can do. If you need to talk...fm me. DONT listen to anyone but you and your dh, it is YOUR decision...NO ONE elses

What a jerko. He would hate me b/c DS is in daycare for 45 hours per week.

Re: Someone said something upsetting to me about DS going to preschool...
That guy is a total jerk. How does he know what is best for YOUR child?
My dd just started daycare (at 15 months) and adjusted after 5 days. She now runs to play when we drop her off, or goes into the teachers arms and waves bye-bye to me, no tears. She takes naps no problem after a week of adjustment. She is there 45-60 hours a week.
The other thing is that she had some issues with sensory issues and eating, and refusing to self feed. She didn't qualify for EI, and has been improving a little at home. But when she started daycare, she just took off! She imitates the older kids and is abetter eater, feeds herself, and tries to use a real cup, instead of a sippy.
Who is that guy to decide how long a child can be away from his mother? (or father- will he work less than 23 hours a week for his kids?)
