Some prayers for Daisy, please!
We've been in and out of the vet for the last week and a half because Daisy has been getting sick a lot in our house. This is the first day in almst 14 days where she hasn't thrown up. She's now on a rice and boiled chicken diet until Monday when her medication ends. If she gets sick after the medication ends, the Dr wants to bring her in again to do xrays, blood testing, etc.
Just pray our little girl will be okay! She is so lethargic and not herself.
ETA: 5/6/08 - Daisy is now on Day 4 or 5 without any throw up. She's on a prescription medication from the vet to slow down her digestive system since the vet stated her metabolism is so fast, and it leaves her stomach empty and the reason for the bile throw up. This medicine slows it down, so she always has food in her tummy, although it makes her a little lethargic.
So, Monday, the vet said we could start to add in Hill's ID wet food into her rice and chicken diet and she's scooping down the food, and she never lifts her head it seems from the bowl until it's gone. It's great! We don't have to sit there and get her to eat anymore since she does it on her own.
So, we'll continue adding more ID food until the rice is gone, and the medicine is finished and we'll see where we stand at that point. We should know by Mother's Day how she is, and if she stays stable, then we'll be in the clear, and if the throw up starts again, she'll be brought back into the vet for blood work, xrays and other tests.
Thanks for asking, everyone!
6/5/08 Update: Daisy continued throwing up once she was fully back on the Hill's Diet Food. She was brought back into the vet and numerous tests were done, blood work taken, xrays taken, etc. Nothing could be found, except the vet saying that this was good news, and we just need to find a diet that suits her stomach. So, she went back on rice and diet and on a new medication (steroid) to help her digest, and after 7 days of no throw up, he asked us to mix in a little of the Hill's wet food again. We did this, and saw that she was always hungry, and we couldn't keep up with her. So, we spoke with the vet and changed her to a Hill's dry food with the medication and she seems much happier and fuller. So, we're on week 2 of no throw up, although now she has taken to chewing up her harness at 2am when we're sleeping, and barking at god knows what when DH and I are fast asleep! I'd rather deal with that then throw up, though.

Cooper had these same symptons (mix a little loose poop in there too )... turns out he has a gastro-intestinal reflux disease. He's on Prednizone and Prolosec and he eats Holistic Select wet and dry food. FM me wtih any questions... we went to Vet Med Center in West Islip to see Dr. Fondacaro, he's amazing!!!!
