Some prayers for Charlie please - Update at Bottom :)

I guess I should give a little background...

Charlie is our shar-pei and he's 2.5 years old. DH and I were at a restaurant last month with him (outdoors) and a man came over to us and said that he noticed we have a shar-pei and he wanted to recommend a doctor that had saved his dogs life.

Apparently one of his dogs had gotten a disease common in shar pei and his vet recommended that the dog be put down but this vet saved his life. So we made an appointment and she took one look at Charlie and was able to name the breeder.

We brought him for a general checkup, but she looked at his leg and didn't like the look the look of a rash on his leg. We've taken Charlie to multiple doctors over the years and ALL of them have said it's nothing to be worried about. This doctor biopsied it and it came back as CANCER.

He's been on medication for the past week and we go in tomorrow for surgery. She's hopeful that it can all be removed through surgery but if you have any prayers to offer it would be great!

I really think that this man that came up to us in the restaurant is Charlie's guardian angel or something. We've sent him a thank you basket but I don't think we could ever properly repay him.

Thank you so much! We've had a week to process the information and it still feels so surreal.

I'm just so hopeful that we can get it all out.

Thanks everyone for the prayers! We had the surgery yesterday and it went well. We will know in 2 weeks if they were able to get everything and whether or not the cancer spread to his internal organs. The doctor is confident though that it hasn't.

Charlie hated the anesthesia and the iv. When he was opening his eyes we were all sitting on the floor in the examining room and he saw me and flung himself into my lap. DH and I stayed that way for about an hour while he woke up.

He's getting better every hour and getting used to having his leg all taped up.

Ok so the worst is over.. i have confidence for some reason this is going to be ok.. You guys are wonderful parents.. My heart really goes out to you..

Thanks so much for the prayers everyone! Charlie is doing well. We took him Saturday to get the bandage replaced and the doctor said he is healing nicely. We still won't have any results for a little over a week.

At the moment the toughest part is trying to keep him from running around. They really want him to take it easy but he loves to run and jump. Last night we had some people over for the game and he kept dropping his toys in everyones lap. No one threw any and he then went and sat on an ottoman and pouted for about an hour.

His appetite is starting to come back so that makes us extremely happy.
