Some (general) Vacation & Disney questions- travelling with a 4 month old.

We're leaving for Disney at the end of the week and i had a couple of questions (some are just general vacation ?'s though). DD will turn 4 months while we're down there (so that you know what we're working with).

- How do you give your infant a bath while on vacation? We took her on a mini-vaca/4 day weekend when she was 11 weeks and i just sponge-bathed her for that, but we'll be gone for 11 days. I usually bathe her in the FP whale tub, but dont feel like bringing it with us.

- Is there anywhere that i can get one of those floaty things that have the awning over it? We wont be in the pool a ton, but when we are, i wanted to shade her from the sun (also- are there any alternatives?)

- For Disney- What stroller is best to bring for a 4 month old?
I'll be bringing the baby bjorn as well. We have the snap & go and a jogger (which also has the attachment for the infant carrier). I keep going back and forth. I think the SNG might be easier to navigate but the jogger would offer a smoother ride (though, its also much bulkier). Oh, and the SNG also offers better shade from the sun.

- Also, with the trams- can the infant even stay in the carrier? ( i know they can't be in a stroller of any sorts). We have the AAA diamond parking pass, so we may be able to avoid the trams, but just in case...

Any other tips/advice for Disney with an infant? DH goes on disboards alot, so we've read alot there, but always open to hearing anything that's good to know!

Re: Some (general) Vacation & Disney questions- travelling with a 4 month old.

We went to Disney when Kaydyn was 5 months and I just took her in the bath with me. I bathed her every other day. As soon as I washed her I would call DH in and he would dry her off and dress her.

We used the Snap and go for most of the vacation. It was lighter and easier to get her in and out when we were getting on the buses/trams.

Yes she can stay in the infant seat while on the buses/trams (you just have to fold up the stroller).

If you have access to a car (we rented) we found it so much easier to buy most of her supplies at Walmart once we got there that way we didn't have to pack so much stuff.

Each one of the parks I believe has a Baby care area that you can go and they have nice changing tables, nursing rooms, some supplies, and even a little TV room.

Re: Some (general) Vacation & Disney questions- travelling with a 4 month old.

We went when DS was 8 months, but we basically still had the same questions.

We got in the tub with DS, so I would recommend doing that.

I got the floaty thing at target, it was GREAT and took up barely any space in our luggage. I would suggest buying this beforehand, because we didn't come across anything like this down there.

Do you only keep her in the infant seat? or do you let her sit up in the jogger herself? If your bringing the car seat regardless I would then just bring the snap n go, if not I recommend the jogger, just because it would be easier for one to hold her in your lap and one to fold the stroller and get on a bus or whatever. I'm not sure how crowded it is when your going, so you may not always have an extra seat next to you to put the car seat.

I'm not sure what trams your talking about, so I can't answer that question.

Honestly your going to have a GREAT time! I recommend, if your a shopaholic like me lol, to bring an extra bag for things you buy. We ended up having to leave alot behind and buy an extra bag because I went so nuts lol. If you bottle feed at all remember dish detergent! Umm make sure you get maps of the parks so you know where the baby room is, its AWESOME filled with rocking chairs and TVs etc. It was great being able to know where they were when DS was hungry or needed to be changed.

Have FUN!!

When I am really pressed for time I just bring Liam in the shower with me. I sit on the floor so he isn't in my arms standing up and slippery. Honestly, he loves it!! I have never been to Disney with a LO so I have no other advice for you. But, I just thought the bath advice would help.

When we visited my mom for ten days, I bought a bath sling at Walmart that was like $6.

Re: Some (general) Vacation & Disney questions- travelling with a 4 month old.

We will be going in January. Julianne will be 7 1/2 months when we go - I'll just bring her in the shower with me while we are away and hand her right off to Chris as soon as she's clean.
When we went with Victoria last year, we brought our travel system stroller. It was a bit bulky, but it proved to hold a nice deal of clothes underneath in the storage basket which helped us since the nights in January get pretty chilly - we needed the space for the extra clothing. We'll br bringing it again for Julianne this time and a simple umbrella stroller for when Victoria gets tired out. It also reclined more than our Mac which helped her nap better (probably because she was used to the travel system stroller by then).
We will be leaving the infant carseat in the car this time because Julianne is sitting up pretty well now and will be even better when we go. Otherwise I did consider bringing it in the parks. I can't think of how you would strap the carseat into the tram seat. I'm thinking you may just have to hold onto her. Can you call Disney and ask that question?
I'm also going to be brining the Baby Bjorn so she can share the view at times and not be confined to our arms or the stroller.
I packed extra food and juice in my bags for Victoria and never had a problem with it. We went slow when she needed us to, switched on and off for rides that she couldn't go on, brought plenty of things on the plane to keep her entertained and our own pack n play sheets. If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.

Have a blast!!!

Thank you, everyone!

We're driving down (we did that last year too, and eventhough that was during the only time in my PG that i had any M/S, it still wasn't that bad) so that makes it easier in the sense of being able to pack more than if we were flying, but i also dont want to bring our house with us, either Chat Icon

Thanks so much for all of the tips and advice! Chat Icon
