Sofitel Hotel- Philly

Any thoughts? I'm thinking of booking for DH's 30th bday as a weekend getaway since he doesnt want a party or anything.

Just wanted some feedback before booking, as they have discounts if you book 15 days in advance.

Any other hotels in the area that might be better? I want something centrally located so we have lots to check out.
while we are there
Thanks!

I have stayed at Hotel Palomar which is across the street from the sofitel. I loved the Palomar. That area is perfect. We walked everywhere. I definetly recommend eating at Amada. The food was delicious (you have to take a cab if you decide to stay at either of the 2 hotels) We also had brunch at Sabrinas-great food but call ahead-bout a 1.5 hour wait.

I was thinking of hitting some of the historical sites and museums while were there. I would have loved to have planned something a little more elaborant but things have been really hectic lately and its only like an hr drive from where we live.

Sofitel is nice. The last time we were in Philly, we used starwood points and stayed at the sheraton. I really liked the location - we were like a block away from Love Park and we could see the Philadelphia Art Museum. It was an easy walk to Walnut St, where most of the nicer stores are located. We also had some good Asian food in Chinatown.
