Soda
I've been sooo good about not drinking soda (i'm a big diet coke drinker). However, is regular soda with no caffeine ok? I hope so, because i'm having a gingerale right now..and its soooo hitting the spot.

Re: Soda
I drank tons of gingerale in the first trimester. Hey, it's recommended in the baby books to help with the nausea so I think you're okay.
Aside from the empty calories, it is not "bad" for the baby. I mean it's not great, I'm sure but i think it's fine to treat yourself once in a while.

Re: Soda
i was excellent the whole 1st trimester and lots of the 2nd...
but once I read that a can of soda has like a fraction of the daily allowed caffeine, I started to worry less about it...I don't drink coffee or tea, so that's all the caffeine I get
and now I'm bad...I probably have a can of soda every other day if not every day...
it's so addicting and I just LOVE it when I'm really thirsty!!!
It's not replacing my water, but it's definitely back in my diet for the last couple months hardcore!!!

Re: Soda
Its not only the caffeine that I worry about, but also the high fructose corn syrup. But that stuff is in everything - I figure soda is easy enough to cut out, since I've cut out 99% of soda anyway.

Re: Soda
I was good the first tri but, since thanksgiving I've been drinking Diet Coke caffeine free every day. I limit it to an 8oz glass tho and I usually end up tossing the rest. Total waste I know and Im sure the add 4 oz wont hurt but, Im not very rational anymore :)

Re: Soda
I mostly drink flavored seltzer but when I do drink soda it is either ginger ale or Sierra Mist. I stay away from the caffeine. But I am so dying for cola. I am a Coke Zero junkie. I have been thinking of looking into the sodastream to mix it up a bit.

Re: Soda
I probably drink more soda than I should but I got over it real fast.... I try to eat as many fruits and veggies as possible and sometimes too much water gives me heartburn so I treat myself with a soda when I feel like it.

Re: Soda
I drink way too much soda but I make an effort to drink the caffeine free versions of everything. Besides the sugars that are in it that would be bad for you pregnant or not, it's really fine. I think the concern is more in the 1st tri for the caffeine more than anything else.
