yes they protested in a couple of places, including Harlem, agaisn't white owned businesses. Apparently they are the ones that fund the cops or something like that.
I don't quite understand thier reasoning either...

Re: So, who is near the protest downtown?
Found this online:
New York – As grassroots community organizers intensify their protest against the police murder of unarmed Sean Bell and attempted murder of his unarmed friends Trent Benefield and Joseph Guzman, the Wall Street financial district is in the crosshairs. A “Day of Outrage” is slated for “Black Thursday” December 21, 2006 at 12 PM. The masses will assemble in front of the Chase Building at Liberty and Nassau Streets, Downtown, NYC to “Shut Down Wall Street.”
The protest was originally scheduled for Friday but intelligence sources have informed the group that the NY Stock Exchange would close early on that day for the holiday weekend. Therefore the date has been moved up to Thursday, December 21st.
“No more business as usual. Our demands are clear. Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly must go! The head of the Organized Crime Bureau, Anthony Izzo must go! The cops involved in this murder must be indicted, prosecuted, and go straight to jail,” declared spokesman Omowale Clay.
The Wall Street protest will be led by the December 12th Movement and the Black Men’s Movement

Re: So, who is near the protest downtown?
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Black New Yorkers demanded the police chief's resignation at a rally on Wednesday and unveiled plans to shut down Wall Street after police killed a black man on his wedding day by firing 50 bullets at three unarmed men.
Sean Bell, 23, who was out for a bachelor party, was killed on November 25, hours before he was to marry the mother of his two children. Two friends with him were wounded, one critically. The Queens District Attorney is investigating the incident.
The December 12th Movement, a human rights group that organized the protest, wants Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly to step down and called for a "Day of black outrage" protest on December 22 that would "shut Wall Street down."
"Kelly must go," rally organizer Viola Plummer told the crowd. "Kelly is still there and those pigs are still shooting and beating us."
Protesters gathered near the New York Police Department headquarters shouting, "Black power against the police" and carrying placards that read: "Stop police brutality," "From bottom to top: fire all bad cops," and "Criminals."
"I'm outraged at three innocent men being shot -- no weapons, no drugs, no crime committed, but 50 shots fired," said Dow Buford, 50, a salesman from the New York City borough of Staten Island. "These cops should go to jail."
Rally organizers said several thousand people turned up, but police officers put the crowd at about 500.
Police have said the officers opened fire on Bell and his friends as they were in a car outside a strip club, apparently in the belief one of them had gone to fetch a gun in order to settle a dispute that arose at the club.
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has said it was "unacceptable or inexplicable" as to how 50 shots were fired.
A police spokesman said Kelly has established a panel to review the department's undercover operations and policy.
"It will not investigate the incident but it may apply any lessons learned that merge after the Grand Jury investigation," the spokesman said
