So what vacuum is everyone using ??
I need a new vacuum. Want to purchase something decent (can spend up to $500). Needs to be excellent on wood floors.
Would prefer upright, although might consider cannister if it's good.
My Kenmore Progressive Canister (similar to the Electrolux) is starting to show it's wear after 6 years.

We have a Shark Navigator. I'm pretty happy with it. It is easy to maneuver. It supposedly never loses suction, but I haven't had it long enough to test that out.

Miele canister, I have two. One is over 15 years old and still works well, the other is about three years old.

I've never seen a Dyson at the top of any review of vacuums. They're good, and by comparison, are amazingly good compared to whatever POS they replaced, but they aren't as good as most other brands, even ones that cost 1/4 the price or less. I have a Eureka Boss. About 1/3 the price of a Dyson, but much better.

I have a shark lift away navigator. I love it. The only thing I don't like is the canister is kinda small.

I don't have any carpet, only wood. I've had a dyson canister for a few years, it works well. My dog sheds a lot.
We are looking into central vacuum now.

We have a Dyson Animal (the purple one). It worked great on our carpet in our old apartment, but it's not doing the job on our wood floors at our new house. We will have a few rugs so I might keep it around for vacuuming those, but I am looking for a new one for the wood floors.

I just ordered a cordless Hoover Linx for my hardwood floors -- it hasn't arrived yet but the reviews for it are beyond amazing!
