So we finally decided to change daycare centers

after going back and forth on what's the right thing to do, we are going to do it.

Please tell me my 3 year old will be ok with the transition. I'm so heartbroken having to move her after being there for 2.5 years, but it's not the right place for her. I'm thinking my 20 month old won't care, but watch he'll be the one who freaks out.

Any advice on how to handle the transition? Should we tell her before? Have her visit the place?

Make it fun and like an adventure! "We found a super new school that you will love!" Emphasize all the great things about it that you know she will get exctied about, like a great art room or whatever. I'd avoid telling her you are changing schools since the other one wasn't that great, or whatever.

Maybe take her to Target or someplace to pick out a new shirt for her first day of school and then promise her a special lunch or treat after her first day.

I agree. If it were my daughter, I'd be talking it up- "you are going to a new school, its going to be so much fun!" I would also let her visit it beforehand.
