So upset (re: going home outfit)

I finally chose a going home outfit. It was an ADORABLE kimono type outfit from Pottery Barn and would have had my baby's name embroidered. I was so excited about it.
Well, my mom went to order it tonight and it's backordered till Aug. 24th!!! Clearly, 2 mos. after my due date won't work.

Bummer for me.

That sounded really cute. I think i know exactly which on eyou are talking about.

I have quite a while to think about my going home outfit, but I don't understand what the big deal is. Maybe I will change my tune when my due date gets closer and I am totally not questioning why you are getting a special outfit, but I just honestly just want to know why it's a big deal to everyone. Somany ppl seem to stress out about it. Maybe I am naive (or just dumb!) ...

Is it just bc lots of pictures will be taken? Sorry - I know its a dumb question!

It's a "big deal" I guess bc it's the first outfit (outside of hospital clothing) that your baby will ever wear. It's just a sentimental-type thing. Of course in the end it doesn'treally matter, but it's just one of those things that some people care about more than others.

Eta: Also, taking the baby home is an important milestone (means s/he is healthy, etc) and like any other special occasion in life, it's nice to have that extra special outfit.

Sorry to hijack...but I just wanted to tell you the story of my going home outfit.

I bought a gorgeous outfit from a French company, it was velour and baby blue and yellow, it was something I agonised over, and in the end I absolutely freaking loved it. I was in the hospital for 5 days and I was desperate to take this baby home. In the end, they discharged us and I was so desperate to get out of there that I couldn't even to be bothered putting the baby in the HUGE outfit (it was newborn sized) I just wanted to wrap that baby up warm and get the h-e-double hockey sticks out of there!!! Honestly, in the end, it didn't even matter to me in the leastest!!! I still have the outfit and I do look at it and go...oooh so cute!!! But I guess what I am trying to say is, don't sweat the small stuff!!! When the time comes, it might not matter so much!

Good Luck! Buy the outfit for a later time when you might be able to appreciate it more!!!
