so upset.. DD 5 weeks and has a cold
I feel like a failed parent. DD is 5 weeks old and I think she has a cold. She is really congested when laying flat and I have no clue what to do for her. I tried the bulb sucker thingy but nothing comes out. Last night I put her in her carseat to sleep because she sounded like she was choking when she was flateven on the inclined sleep thingy. What should I do? Im calling the ped now.

Colds happen.........even to little peanuts. You didn't do anything wrong. You're not a bad mommy at all.
You can try saline nose drops to help loosen up some of the congestion in her nose. I also got one of the battery powered nasal aspirators (mine is by Graco) and I think they work amazing!! They get all the congestion out and my DD doesn't seem to mind that contraption yet she would scream bloody murder when I tried the regular aspirator. I think it was only $20. Anyway, I hope that she feels better soon.

In addition to the saline drops, you should use a humidifier. I hope DD feels better.

awww I hope your DD feels better ~ like the other women are suggesting I would do the saline drops with the bulb sucker and the dehumidifier.... Good Luck!

Re: so upset.. DD 5 weeks and has a cold
DS is 7 weeks old & he just caught his first cold too from his big sister. I called the ped who recommended Little Noses saline drops, letting baby sleep on an incline & using a dehumidifier. He said as long as there is no fever & baby is eating & acting normally there is no reason to get too upset over it. Don't be upset with yourself- colds happen no matter what you try to do to keep your kids germ-free!
