So upset...

After 6 months of looking for a house and going through bidding wars we finally found our dream house and our offer was accepted. We went through the inspection and everything. However, the seller doesn't have any paper work on 2 underground oil tanks. Nor does he want us to test for oil contamination. I think something is up Chat Icon anyways we dropped the deal because we are not willing to take that risk of having contaminated soil or leak which will end up costing over 100,000 in damages.

I know its for the best but...

I just want a damn house!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

ok vent over!Chat Icon

Re: So upset...

I know the whole house hunting process can take an emotional toll on you. If the seller wouldn't give info on the tank then you did the right thing by walking away. There are certain things you shouldn't compromise on and this is one.

You will find the right place......I truly believe everything happens for a reason.

Re: So upset...

The seller really sucks. I can't imagine anyone willing to take the risk and now banks are looking for any reason not to mortgage people that I am sure any buyer would have an issue.

My mother sold her house and had an underground oil tank. Before she even put it on the market she had the tank emptied and buried and the ground inspected.

The owner is putting themself at risk because if they ever discover a leak they are screwed!!!!

Sorry but there will definitely something better for you!

Re: So upset...

I know first hand how frustrating house hunting is these days!!! We walked away from 2 deals. The 2nd one, I was really bummed about ... turned up in the inspection that the house had ROACHES!!!!

We finally found our home, and it blows the roach motel out of the water.

There is definitely something better in store for you! Chat Icon
