So the house almost burned down
I had quite the eventful weekend. I woke up friday night at about 1:30 by the yelling of my DH and FIL. I opened our bedroom door to tell the both of them to shut their skulls because they were interrupting my much needed beauty sleep. DH comes into the room and told me he was sorry for the noise, but that there was a lot of smoke in the living room. Still drowsy, I make my way into the living room to see that indeed there was acrid smell and lots of smoke in our apartment. Did anyone call 911? Nope, they figured they would wait for me to do it  .
I sent DH outside to go in the backyard and see if it was coming from our landlord downstairs, but didnt see anything wrong. She's been in the hospital for a few days, so we knew no one was downstairs. The fire department came and initially thought it was our old refridgerator. They moved it and put a big hole in our wall because it was hot. Smoke started billowing from the hole and they told us to leave the house. Thank God I had my sexy, but nice jammies on. They came downstair and determined it was coming from my landlords floor. They would have to break her door down. Yes, the new one they just installed 2 weeks ago. As they were knocking the door down her fire alarm started to sound. Then they start rolling out the water hose!  Luckily it wasnt that bad. It was the sub pump that the landlord had kept on. There was no significant damage. I'm so grateful DH was awake since we usually keep our bedroom door closed with the AC on. Had he been in the room with me, we would have never caught the fire in time. I cant tell you how happy I am we had someone looking over us that night! 
Poor landlord came home from the hospital yesterday to this mess. But she was also glad the house didnt burn down.

I'm so glad that you're all OK!! Thank goodness DH was still up. So much for smoke alarm going right off.

That's the scariest feeling in the world. My house burned down in the middle of the night 4 years ago and we almost didn't make it out.

It took me a while to actually take everything in. I was pretty calm through it all, but after everyone left and I actually gave it thought to the severity of it, I was pretty shaken. I'm so sorry you lost your house, but glad you all made it out!
