so, spill, how often do you wonder (and how many different variables do you imagine) what your baby is going to look like?

or rather, who?

dh thinks the baby will look like me, especially if it's a bimba.

I think it will look like him. since it already seems to act like him, and even has me eating things DH likes!!!Chat Icon

but sometimes, like today, I freaked out that my daughter will get my worst qualities (or those of my family...like my moms thunder thighs and cankles...seriously, she knows this Chat Icon I was spared...my legs have good shape but those dang recessive genes!!) or a dome piece of a head that I am carrying around...or that she'll come out too much to one side of my family in the breast area (my mom's side is flat...my fathers side are GINORMO)

I really hope I have a boy. it's so much easier. if my daughter were to get teased for something I *gave* her, I'd feel tremendous guilt!!

yes, I am nuts. don't try this at home Chat Icon Chat Icon

I hadn't really thought about it much but we did the 3D sono over the weekend and I totally think the baby looks like my brother as opposed to me or DH Chat Icon

I hope the baby gets it's teeth from my side (EVERYONE on DH's side has had braces) and hair from his side!!!!

And all the sonos have shown BIG feet so I hope the baby gets the HEIGHT from DH"s side of the family too (instead of being short and having giant feet Chat Icon ).

one of my nieces looks EXACTLY like my MIL and her mother.

you can't really see BIL or SIL in her, but look at an old photo of her great grandma and BAM! there she is. it's crazy.

Re: so, spill, how often do you wonder (and how many different variables do you imagine) what your baby is going to look like?

can i put in my two cents?

i had a weird birth experience - could have been the spinal for my c-section, but when they showed DS to me for the first time, my VERY first thought was "that's not my baby," because he didn't look ANYTHING like i thought he would.

i think part of my problem was that i knew i was having a boy, and all of the boys on DH's side of the family look exactly alike, so i thought that DS would be a clone of my DH. but, he's not - he is a good combo of the two of us.

so i have vowed to be team GREEN all the way for my next baby and have zero expectations! i can't wait!

I think about it all the time. I think Chat Icon will look like DH, and he thinks he will look like me. Only a few more weeks till we find out.

My husband jokes while he talks to my belly. He says "you can look 100% like mommy but please have daddy's pleasant personality" Of course we wonder. I think everyone would ideally want the best of both parents especially avoiding any hereditary illnesses. It's totally normal to wonder.

I have such a hard time imaging what DC would look like. Never in a million years would I have guessed DD would look like she does and I am even more confused with this one. It's vexing indeed.

Re: so, spill, how often do you wonder (and how many different variables do you imagine) what your baby is going to look like?

I worry sometimes that if I have a daughter she will have my DH's nose and my huge teeth. This could be not such a good combo. My husband has a very distinguished nose for a man, but on a girl I think it would be a bit much to handle.

I think about this stuff now, but I know that no matter what my kids get genetically, I will think they are beautiful.

I really do worry about having an ugly baby. Vain, I know, but there are some large noses on both sides of the families, and this could be quite unfortunate...

I also really hope Chat Icon gets light eyes (almost a given since DH and I both have light eyes, but there are a few dark eyes in the families...) and dark hair...I love that combo...

What I'm most curious about is whether this baby will look like Alex. My ONLY hope is that it inherits my family's blue eyes, like Alex did. Other than that, I'm groovy.

So far from the sono I can tell that DC will have DH's feet. Our feet are shaped differnetly and you could tell from teh sono that they looked more like my DH's.
Overall I hope he looks like DH but with skin a little darker like mine. Chat Icon

Re: so, spill, how often do you wonder (and how many different variables do you imagine) what your baby is going to look like?

I wonder what she is going to look like allllll the time! Will she have hair (I had a lot, DH had none), what color will her eyes be (I am blue, DH is brown), will she be tall like the women in DH's family or shorter like in mine, will she have curly hair like DH's side or straight.

I am hoping that she gets DH's nose. I really love his nose, it's adorable and I hate mine.

We're pretty sure she is going to have dark hair and light skin since that's pretty much a given on both sides.

Yes, I pray that baby will get DH's height and physique (he's tall and more slender), and that baby gets my hair and smile Chat Icon

and our baby will be tri-racial, so I'm curious what he/she will look like Chat Icon

From the 3-d sono pics i think my little girl will look like my daughter. But i'm open for surprises. I just hope she gets her nose from my side of the family and not his. Chat Icon

When we get the 3D sonos done, i critique them. I think she has DH's nose and my mouth which is good because i have a pinocchio nose and DH loves my lips. We are both red heads with very light blue eyes. Our next 3D sono is on June 4th so we will see what we get then. I can't stop looking at them.

I'm having a boy and I fully expect him to look like my DH and not like me at all.

If I was having a girl, I'd wonder how much she'd look like me, and what aspects of my DH she'd have. But for my son, I'm convinced he'll be all DH.

I wonder sometimes what the baby will look like, but I picture it the same way no matter what.

DH and I look alike, we both have long faces, blue eyes, and the same shade of brown hair. So I think it will be hard to tell which of us the baby actually looks like.

Re: so, spill, how often do you wonder (and how many different variables do you imagine) what your baby is going to look like?

I think about it all the time! I hope the baby has DH's skin color, dark not fair like mine. I would be happy with dark hair like DH's, and he has light honey colored eyes. I have brown eyes, but a lot of my family has blue or hazel eyes. I hope the baby has the height from my family.

It could be the complete opposite though, and I will still love them!!! Chat Icon But in a perfect world our baby will get the best from both of us. Chat Icon

Re: so, spill, how often do you wonder (and how many different variables do you imagine) what your baby is going to look like?

Yes- I am ashamed to say that sometimes I worry our baby will inherit our worst traits.

-An afro for hair. DH and his mom have such thick, course hair that it grows out instead of down.Chat Icon On DH it's fine because he keeps it short, but his mom can't do ANYTHING with her hair. It's just a big poof.

I have very straight, thin hair like my mom, but my sister and my dad have thick straight hair. I am hoping the baby will have medium thickness, wavy hair!

-My eye sight. I am legally blind without my contacts/glasses! We both have a nice color, though. Mine are green and DH has like a blue/grey color.

-DH's nose on a girl. It's not ugly, but very manly. I love my nose and hope my children inherit it.

-Both of us have spacey teeth. DH never had his fixed so he still has a small space between his front teeth. I was lucky enough to break mine when I fell on the stairs at a hotel when I was young so they were capped and the space was closed. Otherwise I would've needed braces.

I'm not worried about anything else. I was always very slim and had good muscle tone- even as a kid. Now- not so muchChat Icon. But DH was an enormous lug as a baby (born at about 10lb12oz!) and was verrrry chubby- where his eyes were squinted shut. I am hoping for somewhere between the two of us! Chat Icon

i didnt start thinking about it until recently when we had our level 2 and saw that the baby finally looked human lol! we were examining its profile and i thought immediately it must look like DH because it has his nose. i have a flat nose so no way could that profile be from me!Chat Icon

Re: so, spill, how often do you wonder (and how many different variables do you imagine) what your baby is going to look like?

I tried to envision what Abby would look like. I prayed that she would have my father's smile so I could see his sweetness againChat Icon .

I also envisioned her to be as bald as an onion. If you have ever seen a picture of Abby, you know she has more hair on her head than Sasquatch.

She does not look like my father. She is a perfect combo of DH and myself. HOWEVER, I NEVER thought myself capable of creating such a gorgeous baby.

Ladies, you will marvel in your childrens' beauty. Every inch of it!
