we had a visitor last night who after being at my house for a while, playing with and holding dd and touching her toys, told me she was still sick with a cold (the tale end)...im livid, who comes over someone's house with a cold when there's a baby?!?!?

dd is breastfed, pretty much exclusively, so hopegully she has lots of antibodies...do you think shes likely to have caught anything??

Eta: she's 3.5 months old

people are so dumb.. honestly, there is a chance that she may catch something but since she is almost exclusively breastfed, it may be slight. I hope your DD is fine.. and your visitor.. I would have said something...

That was pretty crappy...but no BF baby I know gets sick any less than any FF baby I know. So if she's going to ge sick, she's going to get sick.

I'd just wash all the toys and disinfect anything your friend may have touched (doorknobs, faucet, light switches) and hope for the best! Be sure to wash your hands a lot too for the next few days.

Re: so pissed

I don't know how old your DD is, I wouldn't worry too much, especially if she is BF.

Although I personally don't care much about colds, it's common courtesy to mention it if you're going to be around a baby. But a lot of people don't consider that really being "sick". If your DD is still a newborn that's a different story and at the very least they should have stayed away from her.

My dd was ebf when she had her first cold. Bm doesn't make them superman/woman.

As for the friend, I would def say something. I would be pissed if someone was knowingly sick playing with my dd.

I'd be mad too. She should have thought of that before she visited and let you know. And she definitely should not have held your dd and touched her toys. There's a chance she could get sick of course since she was exposed to it but hopefully the BFing antibodies will prevent it. During my dds first winter DH had so many colds and I had a really bad one once too but DD never got sick even when I couldn't help but cough all over her as I was BFing her.

Actually, it the nursing mom had been in touch literally with the cold it can protect the nursing baby from the germs. The nursing moms antibodies will protect the baby.

And that is super shit&y that your friend did that.
