So my eggs suck
So I had my big consult going over blood work and sonos. I'm hoping someone can shed some light for me...
First, DH's SA was great except for the shape being slightly off. She wants to repeat SA to see if it was a fluke.
Second, Everything was great with my bloods and sonos except my estrogen was pretty high- I think she said 112 at cd3. And something else was off.. not FSH but something else. So basically, she said my eggs are not the best quality and she thinks it's from the endometriosis. She said my chances are harder than another 32 year old with good numbers and I should think ab completing my family within the next few years. So.. she said bad quality eggs mean a higher chance of chromosomal defect thus high chance of miscarriage. Ugh, I am totally freaked out. Seriously. Does this mean I have a higher chance of having a baby with issues or no baby at all?? Do women with this issue come out with healthy babies?? She is insisting on medicated IUI with clomid this coming cycle which starts next week. I am happy that she is on the ball and wants to get things moving! She seemed very neutral- not upset or dire but not totally happy and optimistic either. Neutral can be such a hard thing to read. I'm so sad right now :/

I'm sorry about your results! You are going to do a medicated IUI which is good and hopefully you get your BFP

I have no experience, but I wanted to say that I'm sorry they weren't the results you were hoping for. Hope you get your BFP soon!

Thanks ladies I'm so upset. Wondering if I should bother doing the IUI if there's a high chance of chromosomal/miscarriage issues anyway.

I am getting the sense that you don't entirely trust your dr... I think the right dr will give u a sense of optimism. I wish you all the luck.. Maybe Seek a second opinion or why not give the iui a shot.. The end result is so worth it

ehh it's not that I don't trust her.. she was very nice and knew her stuff. The consult was just very neutral and I don't know how to feel ab my options. I am going back next week for cd3 BW so I am going to request to speak to a Dr after.

I think unless you're MF or tubal issues it makes sense to try out a few IUIs to test run your ovaries with the drugs. IVF is a big deal, and most can only afford to do a handful of them. It makes sense to have some data about your body and response so they can design an appropriate protocol. That said, I'm not sure how much time I would waste on Clomid. On the other hand, without specific info on what test results indicated egg quality, it's hard to say. PCOS and DOR, for example, both affect egg quality but are completely different animals demanding different approaches to treatment,
Make sure you're seeing someone who knows what they're doing specific to egg quality issues. My experience was that most local docs were too arrogant to do what was right and write a referral and instead wanted to put donor eggs in me at 32.

I had extensive endo on my ovaries and tubes so she is thinking that is why my quality is not fitting for my age- something another RE told me years ago when I first had a Lap to remove the endo. I did conceive a son naturally so I know a healthy pregnancy is possible but that was 5 years ago :/ I really wish I didn't wait this long! I spoke with DH and we are going for the IUI.. might as well, right? I am going for my cd BW next week and am requesting to speak to a dr so I am writing down all of the info and researching it. Def will go for a second opinion if things look worse than she is saying. Thanks!!

Re: So my eggs suck
I am surprised how your doc phrased everything. Do not give up hope! I am about to start my journey again to try for DC2. I am 34 with unexplained IF and my doctor has always remained postive, despte numerous iuis and ivf cycles. If i were you, having had a child, i would not give up hope. I agree with others....you must be very confident in your doctor. Good luck!

Re: So my eggs suck
A confident doctor who believes they can help you is great. I wouldn't read into the 'neutral' part though. For reference, when I first started my journey my RE was verrrrrry confident. I asked if I would be pregnant by the summer (it was January 2010) and he was SURE of it. Well .. 3yrs later and I hope to finally be on my way to mommyhood. Do I blame him? No.... He told me what he thought was true at the time and I went down a string of events that could never have been predicted.
Doctors can only tell you so much. They can reflect on what they've seen... give you their thoughts on possible outcomes... but what they absolutely cannot do is predict the future.
Being neutral just may be her way of approaching patients. If you want to get a better idea of how she feels about things, just ask.. but even still.. they can only tell you what they think, which isn't always what will happen in the end.

Re: So my eggs suck
Thank you everyone for the responses and FM's! I feel so much better. What is bothering me is that the RE did not give me any info on ways to improve the quality of my eggs- when I asked her, she just said there is no way to improve and it will only get worse so TTC in the next few years. So many of you gave such great info and recommendations on supplements and acupunture. Why couldn't she say this stuff? I really appreciate you all!

So my eggs suck
I was just diagnosed with egg quality issues also. My doctor said I could go straight to IVF or do medicated IUI... He said the only thing with IUI is you are taking chances with egg quality ( which in my case I have a past of m/c) while with IVF they can pick out the "good" eggs. We decided to do IUI first for a cycle or two then do IVF... We should start in a week or so!!
