So Confused
I'm so confused right now. Unemployment ends in about 5 weeks so I am starting to look for a job. It's so hard to find a job making decent money!
I'm a certified teacher and can't find a job and it isn't worth putting Jiavana in day care for me to sub.
So then I have been interviewing/calling about Admin jobs and the pay is just so low even with having like 6 yrs of experience.
I have no idea what to do. it is killing me. i dont want to leave her at day care. i feel like i'm abandoning her. but then again we probably cant afford me to stay home. i could look for a night job but then i would never see my husband.
what do you ladies do? please help!

Re: So Confused
Can you look for a job in a daycare where you can take your daughter to work with you for free?

Re: So Confused
I work part time 2-3 nights a week from 2-10pm. I will not work weekends so that we are guaranteed to have family time together. I'm a pharmacist so this is easy for me to do. I realize an arrangement like this isn't easy in all fields. Since you're a teacher what about working in a daycare? Then you could be there in the same building with her or what about in home daycare? My friend does this until she is ready to go back to to teaching.

Re: So Confused
I think most of us have been there.
Here is what worked for us: I took a pay cut to work three days a week instead of five. Grace is in day care Tues, Wed, Thurs. It is NOT ideal, but it is working for us. I had so much guilt over this decision and it is a personal one for everyone.
ETA: my day care provider was a teacher before she had kids and she started her own day care in her house to be home with her kids, just a thought.

Re: So Confused
don't most daycares want you elementary or early childhood certified?
i'm secondary certified and don't have any experience with little little kids besides my own and my cousins.
my husband wants us to sit down and work out the numbers tonight or tomorrow so maybe that will bring some hope.

Re: So Confused
Well, for us, as hard as it is, JT stays home with the baby all day while I am at work, then when I get home, he goes to work. It's not ideal, but we really do not want Ava in daycare. There's nothing wrong with daycare, but it's just not what we wanted. Not to mention, we probably would have to cut off a limb to afford it. It's hard, but so far, worth it.
