So confused - WWYD
So we are expecting DD in Novemever and have a son who is 7. When we found out we were expecting - we gave DS a choice on weather he wanted to change rooms (we have a 3 bedroom home) he said that he did want to switch rooms.
So with that being said - we re-painted the play room (which was the room he was moving to) and getting it ready to move all his furniture into his new (bigger) room... and last night he says that he no longer wants to move and is very happy where he is.
I don't want to force him to move rooms and wanted to involve him in as many decisions as possible with the new baby coming - but now i'm dreading re-re-painting this room for DD!
WWYD - TIA

Stick with your plans. You gave him a choice. He is old enough to understand.

I would tell him to think about it and that I will ask hin for his final decision tomorrow, but ultimately if he decides to stay where he is, I would leave him be. Either way you're painting a rokm (i'm assuming). Annoying, yes, but i'm afraid he would feel forced out in the new room if he doesn't want to go. At 7 he does understand but this is a brand new experience for him. He seems like he has the equivalent to buyer's remorse.

LOL - I agree completely I have buyers remore all the time!
I really just don't want him to feel forced out by the new baby and be resentful towards her in any way

If you're planning to stay in that house for the long run you might want your DD to have the bigger room anyway since girls usually need more room for all their clothes and stuff when they get older. I know my parents moved me into the bigger room when I was three and my brother was born. I don't remember if I was upset about the move or not, but my parent's reasoning was I should get the room with the bigger closet, and when I was a teenager I definitely appreciated that.

I'd just leave it painted the way you did it and give it to the new baby that way. Don't repaint now. Is there any way you can make the colors work?

I can def make it work but for some strange reason DH is insistant on making it more "girly" I can def deal with it and just add the accessories to make it work. I always thought I would be the one that was super picky but I'm actually not and he is!

If you want a girly room for DD, I'm assuming you would have wanted to repaint your son's room anyway, right? So whether or not he moves, one room will need to be painted again. I agree with the pp who said to have him think about it and give a final decision, but if he doesn't want to move, I would definitely not make him. You don't want him to resent the new baby.

I agree 100%. You gave him a choice, he chose, you did all that work for him to switch rooms and now it is too late to change his mind again. I would leave it as is and explain to him it is too late and that he already made a decision.
