Snooty Diaper Bag Question

I have always thought I'd get the Gucci diaper bag once I was preg.....



But now that I'm thinking about it, I'm contemplating getting the LV Neverfull

l



because besides that the Neverfull is cheaper than the Gucci, I can use it once is older.

So what do you think? Gucci or LV?

I want the Gucci diaper bag soo badly, but I definitely see how the LV would be useful after. If youre looking for practicality then go for the LV.

The first thought when I look at that LV bag is "There are no compartments on the inside, holy $hit what a jumbled mess the contents of my bag will be on a daily basis."

While it's a nice bag, it doesn't seem very practical. Think of all the stuff you have to put in a diaper bag when they are little, and how you will be constantly fumbling through the bag for things because you just have to put it all in one bag open space.

Maybe I'm just anal about organization, but I like having pockets and dividers in a diaper bag. I'm able to keep my DD's bottles on the sides, her baby food in another pocket, any creams/lotions/sunscreen in another. The changing pad, diapers, and wipes are kept on one side of a divider in the middle, while her clothes, formula dispenser and burpt cloths are on the other.

Look for practicality INSIDE the bag not just how pretty it is on the outside. If the Gucci bag has more compartments in it, I would go with that one, or look for an LV that is more useful for a baby.

The LV is a gorgeous bag (of course!), but it's lack of compartments AND the fact that it doesn't zipper, makes for it to NOT be a wise choice.

You're going to need a zipper so everything you have doesn't fall out all over the place, especially since thig bag appears to not have any compartments for anything (which is going to really stink I can promise you that).

With that being said, I would go for the Gucci.

I also though of the fact that the LV would make for a jumbled mess of stuff..but what if I got something like this to help organize the inside?

I am also a bag snob but I am not a fan of the gucci bag. I like the LV a lot but not as a diaper bag. The organizer helps but it doesnt zip, straps wont fit on the stroller, and I use the outer pockets all the time for pacifiers, wash cloths, my keys, etc. By all means go for it but if you do I would use that as a secondary bag. I think you will want a "real" diaper bag too.

I hated every diaper bag that was supposed to look like a stylish purse. They were all ugly IMO. So I went with a bag that wasn't pretending to be a purse, LeSportsac Ryan, which is very convenient and lightweight and comes with a changing pad. I also bought a JuJuBe diaper pod which is like a large wristlet, which I use when I don't want to take the full diaper bag and I toss it in a larger bag - in my case usually my Longchamp, but for you this could be the LV or any bag you already own.

The LV bag will be no good as a diaper bag. It looks nice but is not practical. YOu need lots of compartments, and a zipper on top. You need to bring so much around with you when they are very young. I like a nice bag, but I would save the money for a diaper bag. You can still get something that looks nice and is more practical, but may not be a Gucci or LV.
I guess if you are going to pick one, go with the gucci. Really I would save the money and look around. Probably not what you want to hear, but I just commenting from my experience.

JMHO, I think for the amount of $$ you'd spend on the bag, it should have the compartments you need already, so you wouldnt have to spend more $ making it the bag you actually need.

I do agree that a bag with a zipper would be more convenient.

They are both pretty bags, just not sure how practical they are.

Just wait until you DC spits up all over your expensive bag and then that bag is garbage!

There are plenty of diaper bags that look like purses and come in fabrics that are washable and wipeable


I would save the money you would spend on that bag and splurge on a really nice stroller

i will say again, that the LV bag will be useless when your DC is here. you will have this crazy expensive, USELESS bag sitting around your house, because for the first few years of your DC's life, you will be only using a diaper bag.

i really wanted the Coach diaper bag until i realized how heavy it was WITHOUT anything even it it!

i went with a vera bradley diaper bag, and let me tell you, thank freaking god i did. i have washed it so many times, it has held up so well. being able to wash it makes a difference for me, because that thing gets DIRTY, on the inside AND outside. the handles are starting to show wear & tear after 20mos of use, i can only imagine what your precious expensive leather bag would do with all the use it's going to endure. i can tell you, it's not going to hold up.

and i can promise you that it will be a huge regret if you get it. you can buy all the compartment dividers you want (which you shouldn't have to spend any more money after what you plan on forking over for the bag), but i would bet anything they won't fit with all the stuff you're going to be putting in it. which will all be moot anyways when it falls out 1000x and you're constantly trying to reorganize it.

Neither. Look at Storksak. They have amazing bags, look great, and are functional. Celebs rock these all of the time.

Gucci is not that great for the price. LV is not practical for what you will need.

I say... get a vera bradley or some other more "practical" and moderatly priced diaper bag,, thennnnnnnnnn get the LV for yourself as a xmas, push, or just bc gift =)
The carryall is practical maybe not for dirty diapers but just for 'whatever' for yourself, a work bagm and even to put stuff in on day trips etc when kids get a bit older, and the LV will last forever
(so will the gucci but this LV is more practical IMo)

Both bags are absolutely gorgeous and you will kill yourself the first time milk spills in it!

I have a Kate Spade and while I love it, it took me 4 weeks to get the smell out.

Best advice is don't invest that much in a diaper bag. Get yourself a bag you like and something more practical for use as a diaper bag!

ETA-The mommies who I spoke to with the Gucci say it holds next to nothing.

Don't spend the money on something that is going to get trashed......also is your DH going to want to carry around a designer bag? We got a bag that both of us were comfortable carrying so we didnt need two diper bags

I would go LV just get the gm size. And use the organizer. My diaper bag was always open even though it had a zipper and I always have everything in little baggies anyway. My ds bottles I kept in a bottle cooler so no spilling issues. I honestly used the diaper bag for 6 mo than just used my larger bags. You just have to stay organized.

coming from a new mom who ran into a diaper bag issue, i say neither. i had gotten a coach one when i was pregnant and it was similar to the LV one, one big compartment with an inside pocket for the changing mat.

it was awful! first off, everything got lost in there and when you have a crying baby or if you are in a confined area, you dont wanna be digging everywhere. 2nd, the material was stiff. it made it really annoying when it came to stuffing it under my stroller, it wouldnt smush under there. and because it was tote bag style, it only fit in the basket laying down and my bottles would leak in there.

i ended up getting a JuJuBe bag and i love it. i also love DH's bag which is a back pack style from BRU. both are very functional. i figure i can use the coach one when DS gets older and i need less stuff
