Smoothies please!
Dh is on a smoothie kick and we are looking for some recipes. Up until now he has just been doing frozen fruit with some juice. He has to lose about 10 lbs over the next 2 weeks for his job and he wants to replace his breakfast with a smoothie but it needs to be a bit 'heavier' and more filling. What else can he use? I've heard of yogurt, but do they mean frozen yogurt or regular yogurt? Please help, i'm going to 'smoothie' his arse in a minute!

Re: Smoothies please!
We bought a smoothie "cook book" at the register at the grocery store. One of those $2 or so things.
Yes, they do mean yogurt you buy in the grocery. I usually get the big plain and/or vanilla flavored ones and then add some frozen fruit and some juice. Those Dole fruit blends work well.
He may want to buy some protein powder from GNC to add in for some heft.

Re: Smoothies please!
My favorite smoothie is 1 cup of nonfat plain yogurt with frozen berries. You may need to add a little milk. So yummy and healthy.

Re: Smoothies please!
My favorite is Nonfat French Vanilla Stonyfield Farms yogurt (not frozen)with a cup of Frozen mixed tropical fruit and about a half cup of Trop 50 OJ. It's really good! I've also done the yogurt with frozen strawberries and half a fresh banana and juice - which is delicious too.
For "health" shakes... I like Myoplex Vanilla Cream Powder with 6 ozs of skim milk a handful of ice cubes, a teaspoon of instant coffee or a splash of expresso- blend until smooth and then pour into your cup and top it with some sprinkled cinnamon.. delicious Cappucino Cream Protein shake!

Re: Smoothies please!
I make smoothies a lot. My fav is 1 ripe banana, 1/2 cup low fat or fat free milk, 1sp. creamy peanut butter and about 3 ice cubes. It's delish and the PB gives some protein to keep you full.
I also make them with fat free greek vanilla yogurt and throw in some frozen fruit
Alli06 gave me a great smoothie recipe:
Sweet O.J. Surprise combine 1/2 cup O.J. 6 oz low fat plain or vanilla yogurt 2 tablespoons honey. It is great. I drank this every morning my entire pregnancy!!!

Thanks everyone! Yogurt seems to be the key, I am on my way to the store to pick some up and hopefully he will be happy!

Re: Smoothies please!
I've been making them every morning and now DS is loving them too! I use a banana, mixed berries (frozen but I put some in the fridge the night before so they blend better), and nonfat vanilla greek yogurt. It's yummy! Tomorrow I'm going to try the peanut butter one since I'm out of berries.
