small update Help. My 2 yr old won't sttn

I'm desperate hereasweareall exhausted to the max. I have no idea what to do anymore. She up for 2-3 hrs every night. CIO Ferber method is not working. I can't funstion like this. Any ideas? Inknow all the usuals already, teeth, sick, nightmares wtc but this is going on for months now. From nov until feb. Then we had a break for a few weeks and now we are back to it. What do I do?

update:

so a little update if anyone is interested lol

She woke at 2:30. I went in and she laid down right away I rubbed her back for 2 mins then sat in there for 2 mins. She fell asleep fast. I left and she stayed sleeping. I guess it was around 3 she woke again. I went in, covered her and she went right back to sleep. Slept until 5:40. Some progress as to where she didn't scream or get up and down for 2-3 hours lol. Hopefully tonight will be less and we will be back on track
Thanks everyone

I did go out and get mommy's bliss lavendar everything lo. Lotion, spray, bubble bath. I went a little nuts with it last night, lmao, but I prayed it worked lol.

She is 2? Does she have a lovey or a nightlight?
I am honestly not going to be any help at all as I have a nearly 8 year old who STILL does not STTN and ends up sleeping with me every night Chat Icon

Re: Help. My 2 yr old won't sttn

our 2.5yo has been doing the same thing since dec. things got a little better last month where she would only wake up 1-2 time, sometimes sttn. but the past few days have been horrible. last night she was up 10 times!!!! im pregnant and sick and its exhausting. my last option is to put a lock on her door or put a safety knob on her side of the door and she will just have to cio. its so stressful I feel your pain

She's testing you. Don't use the Ferber method where you keep going back in. She knows if she cries, you'll go in. Just let her cry and she'll go back to sleep. It should only last a night or 2.

Does your DD nap?
When does she go to sleep?
2-3 hours is a long time to be up consistently.

I'd cut the nap(s), put her to sleep later and/or wake earlier.

Then, once you are sure she's exhausted: try other methods.

She does nap. Around 11am for about 2 hrs. She's not 2 yet. The end of this month she will be. CIO is not working b/c she's standing in the crib for 3 hrs on Sunday nights and 2 hrs last night. I tried to just let her scream instead of going in at intervals but that's not working either. I j&j eat sky can't see taking away nap yet. She's wat to young. I'd never make it thought the day with all the whining she does when she doesn't nap (rare). And her naps are off too. Just like right now. She slept for 1 hour and was up screaming at the top of her lungs.

She naps. Usually around 11 due to older dd school schedule and our afternoon activities.

She goes to bed at 8 adm wakes around 6. She's exhausted. She cries for bed from 7 until 8 (before time change it was 6-7). I can't cut naps. There's no way.

What other methods would you suggest?

Do you have a white noise maker and a night light? What about a special stuffed animal? Check in her mouth with a flashlight and look and see if new teeth are coming in.

Help. My 2 yr old won't sttn

Have you thought of switching her to a toddler bed / regular bed? I know for my sister this helped, she didn't like being confined in the crib and would scream and scream until she was taken out. We switched her to a toddler bed and it made a world of difference (my sister is 15 years younger than me, and I raised her, so it's not like I'm talking about someone who is 3 years younger lol).

Yes white noise, night light, paci, lovey, toys, pillow, blanket, I do feel some bumps in te back but give her advil at bedtime. But at this point I think it's just habit but don't know how to break. Her teeth don't seem to bother her at all.

First, I'm sorry. No sleep is horrible. Especially when the kid can't tell you what is wrong.

I'm no sleep expert, but I find that most people who complain about their kids not sleeping are "oversleeping" the kids.... BUT you are not: 1 two hour nap at that age is, IMO, perfect. You could cut it by 30 minutes, but it shouldn't make too much of a difference. The amount of sleep at night is OK too. You could put her to sleep an hour later, but it's not a huge change.

You have another kid, so you know about too warm or too cold in room can mess with sleep.

I've done 3 things in these cases:

1. (probably not correct, but got me through with my older one when he was maybe 1 year old): sleep with kid (I had a small twin bed in his room). Ssshhhhh kid when they wake up.

2. Have hubby put kid to sleep (who knows why this works, but it does: they never wake up when DH puts mine to sleep).

3. Do a whole bedtime routine: PJs, teeth, story. Get a Blanket, noise machine (for YOU and YOUR kid) & CIO (sorry, this option sucks, but we did for a whole 2 nights of screaming with my youngest & then it all stopped)

I have thought about a toddler bed but I feel she's to young. She's not trying to climb out or flip out. She's just standing there and has plenty of room in there.

This really helped me.
Don't go in: just send him if needed.

Good luck!

I have lost so much sleep in a few days he feels bad for me I feel bad for him b/c he actaully has to go to work lol. But she seems to respond better to him at nigth. We battled for 2 hrs last night then he finally went in and she went back to sleep pretty quickly. she woke again at 4:$5 but went back for me.

I think he needs to just do it. sucks for him lol but it be worth our sanity.

Help. My 2 yr old won't sttn

ive always found that if I go in, my DD will be awake and upset much longer. Although she doesn't wake consistently anymore (for now), when she's waking consistently, the only way for us to get any sleep is to have my DH go to her. I guess she doesn't want him in the middle of the night so when we are having sleep problems, after a night or two of DH going to her, she starts STTN again.

maybe trey this have him go in once to make sure she hasn't dropped anything isnt we through her pjs Etc and say it's time for night night give her a kiss and leave. Let her cry and don't go back in.
You said it was 2 hours one night then an hour the next maybe the next night will be 20 min and the next no crying...
Good luck!!!!!

Help. My 2 yr old won't sttn

Do you close her door at night? Our DS was doing this as well until we figured out that he didn't like his door closed at night. He was in his toddler bed at this point though. He would wake multiple times a night. One night we put him to bed at normal time, and I left his door open and he slept through the night. Next night, same thing. From then on, we leave his door open. I think if he woke up and saw the door closed he would get upset, but seeing it open would make him feel safe that we were right there.
