I believe they are the same thing. I have a Rival crockpot that I got from Macys. It is very similar (if not the same) to this one:

Don't get the Kitchen Aid one. It actually cooks great, but the ceramic crock is prone to breaking.... I just had to replace my slow cooker (less expensive than replacing the the crock)

I just got. A Hamilton beach one, I only used it once so far but one feature I love about it is that I can use the pot of the stove top to brown things, then just put it in the electric part.
