Sleep Routine Change After Stomach Virus

16M old DS had the dreaded stomach virus 2 weeks ago for about 6 days and was pretty much refusing bottles & food for a week. Since he wasn't drinking his normal 20 ounces of milk, and was barely drinking water he was waking up at 6 am for a bottle, and then again at 8am for one (normally he wakes at 8 and gets one). I thought it would be temporary bc he was hungry but its been 2 weeks since and he is still waking up at 5 or 6am and screaming for a bottle. We tried letting him cry for up to to 20 minutes to see if he would go back to sleep on his own and it doesn't work. So I go in, give him a bottle and put him back down to sleep until his normal wake up time. When he wakes up asking for another bottle, I just give him breakfast instead.

Question is, how do I break this habit! We had such a good routine going before this. Has this happened to anyone else? Do they always change after getting sick?

Re: Sleep Routine Change After Stomach Virus

Hey Kris - J was doing this recently as well off and on.

I think it may have more to do with teething than him having had the stomach virus.

J eventually went back into sleeping to his normal wake - up time but it took about a month before that happened.
