Sleep help!
DD is 9m. She used to be a great sleeper. For the past 3 months her sleep has become terrible. She wakes up screaming and we rock her back to sleep but the minute we try to put her into crib she wakes up again. This goes on for hours.
We tried CIO several times but hasn't worked. Especially now that she stands up in crib and the can't get herself back down.
We tried later bed time, still nothing.
Also have given her tylenol thinking it was from teething but that hasn't helped either.
Any suggestions?

Re: Sleep help!
my advice is to CIO.
how long did you let her cry for?
we had to let DS cry for 52 mins one night. The second night was half that and by the third 4 or 4 mins.. i think they will eventually tire out.
With that said, every 5-10 mins- stand outside the door and talk to them.. tell them you are there, u love them, etc.
GOOD LUCK

Thanks for the response. I've tried CIO and went in at 3,5,7,10 mins then let her cry for about another 30mins. She just screamed louder and louder each time we left. After doing that for a few nights we just let her cry without going in at all. It went on for like 45 minutes and then we just rocked her. But that isn't even working anymore bc she'll fall asleep in our arms then wakes up the second we put her down.
She pulls herself up and doesn't know how to sit back down so just stands there and screams.

Check out troublesometots.com. It was my savior when I was in a similar situation. I couldn't do the interval thing bc DD would also get worse each time. I did straight CIO at 16 months and it's been great. The first night was 40 minutes, then 15, then 5, and after that nothing. I think 45 minutes is pretty average so maybe a little longer and she would have gone down. DD was also just starting to stand in the crib and had to learn to get back down. Practice with her a lot during the day and encourage her to sit and to lay down by doing it with her on the floor. She'll get it pretty quickly and when it's bed time and they're tired, they can only stand up and cry for so long. What I read on that website was that kids can become hyper vigilant at bedtime if they fall asleep with you there and wake up with you gone and will start to really resist going to sleep. Put her down with white noise and a lovey, no music, no mommy, no rocking that won't be there when they wake up later.

We did CIO but, we didn't go in after we put him in his crib. Like angnick said it took awhile the first night but, it got easier and easier.
For teething - Tylenol didn't really help either of my kids - they got more relief from Motrin.

Re: Sleep help!
I would do a combo of Motrin in case it's teething and CIO. As long as you know she is ok and not hurt or in pain, I would let her CIO. She has developed a habit that you need to break. Hopefully it will only take a few nights for you to have your great sleeper back!

Re: Sleep help!
DD was like yours- she had been an excellent sleeper very early on and then somewhere around the 6 month mark was up all the time. The ped had told us it was bc we rocked her to sleep, and she needed to learn how to put herself to sleep so that when she woke up in the middle night she wouldn't be looking for us. It took us until 9 months to listen to that advice. I won't lie, for us it was a good week+ of listening to her cry for an hour or sometimes a little more, but eventually it clicked and now she goes to sleep on her own without any issue and she STAYS asleep too! I know it's not easy, but it really is worth it in the long run when you're ready. Throw on a sweatshirt, grab a cup of tea (or wine!) and sit on your patio so you don't torture yourself! Good luck.
