Everyone has different priorities. You do you and don’t worry about other people.

I'm obsessed with the inside of my home and I thrive in organization so for ME the inside of my house is a priority because it's where we spend so much of our time. I really enjoy an organized and updated home, it's important to me. That being said, our yard is totally blah and we don't care much because we aren't outdoor people anyway. Again, everyone has different priorities.
I don't think what you're saying is anything new though, everyone keeps a different home based on the things that are important to them and their lives.
