Similar sounding first and last names

Do you think it is bad to give a baby a name that is similar to your last name? The name we love starts with the same three letters as our last name.

The name we like would sound similar to these:

Robert Robinson
Margaret Martin

Im not personally a fan of that except I do love the way Phil Phillips sounds,. lol!! But I think I would make sure the names aren't so similar.

Totally depends on the name?

Matthew Matella - okay.

Ronald Ronson -- no.

These are funny. It is not like John Johnson, but not like Matthew Matella. Somwhere in between.

And if this wasn't my poll, I would vote no, but this is the only name that I just love!

Re: Similar sounding first and last names

I don't love it but depends on the name. I think the boys names you wrote sounds stranger than the girls but in the end, your baby, your choice and screw everyone else.

You are totally wanting to do Mavis Davis right?

Lol.

I wish I could just post the name, but I don't want our last name on the board! It is no where near as bad as Mavis David or Robert Robertson!

Re: Similar sounding first and last names

My dd has the same first two letters in her first, middle, and last names...her name sort of goes together, and her middle name was a family name...I think if you like it, go for it!

Re: Similar sounding first and last names

I'm not a fan, I always think, why did their parents do that?

ie: Robert Robertson, Matthew Matthewson, Nicholas Nicholson etc.

MY maiden name is Nicholas and everytime I tell someone that I'm naming my first son Nicholas they go "Nicholas Nicholas? You can't be serious!!!" Then i have to explaiend that my new last name is not Nicholas therefore my child will not have nicholas as a last name, just his first! His grandpants and cousins will have his first name as their last though, but I think its cute. I wanted to naem my son after my dad but his name is Larry, so Nicholas it is!!! haha!

Seriously!

And I don't consider a name like Hannah Hanover to be anything like Hellen Hellen. I just want people to understand what I am asking!
