Silly question about pumping and storing breastmilk...
When you pump, where does the milk get deposited? Do you have the choice to use the freezer storage bags right on the pump? Or do you pump into a container and then transfer to the freezer storage bags (or whatever other storage item you want to use)?
I will probably get the Medela PIS advance and use the Lansinoh freezer bags... just trying to get an idea of how the process would work if I want to freeze BM. Or if I want DH to bottle feed DC on ocassion.

Re: Silly question about pumping and storing breastmilk...
i normally pump into containers and transfer over to the bags.. when i have enough ounces, i throw it in the freezer! that was then! nowadays, i don't use the freezer bags b.c i do not make enough for a freezer stash!

Re: Silly question about pumping and storing breastmilk...
I have the same pump and use the same bags. I pump into the medela bottles that come with the pump, then pour it into the bags. If I'm freezing they go into the freezer, if it's just for a bottle feed they'll go into the fridge or stay out on the counter if it's for later that day (BM can stay out for 8 hours unrefrigerated when just pumped). Hope that helps!

Yes, you have the option of pumping directly into the bags or into a bottle/container. I do either depending on what my plan for the milk is - store or use soon.

Re: Silly question about pumping and storing breastmilk...
i've been pumping into the little bottles that come with it and then transferring to bags...
steve tried to have me pump right into the bag for the first time and he ended up ripping the bag and we didn't want any milk wasted, so for us it's just easier to transfer!

Re: Silly question about pumping and storing breastmilk...
I pumped into the Medela bottles and stored them in the refrigerator until I used them or wanted to freeze them. I recommend getting extra storage bottles, especially if you're planning to pump at work.

I pump into the madela bottles and then transfer into the madela bags it just seems easier to me because its annoying attaching the bags.

I pump right into the Lansinoh bags. I'd rather do that so I don't have to wash the bottles.

Re: Silly question about pumping and storing breastmilk...
I either pump into Medela bottles and transfer to freezer bags or I pump directly into Playtex Drop-Ins using their breastmilk storage kit and adapter ring.
